Increase Your Effectiveness.

“Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.” Acts 6:3

From our opening scripture, we see the apostles preparing to delegate to new leaders. Why is it important for us to delegate as leaders? Delegating to the right persons, who possess the right requirements for the business, will, in turn, increase your leadership effectiveness and productivity.

Leaders who do not delegate appropriately when it is required as a result of growth, will experience lots of stress, and they will later become ineffective as leaders. I remember reading a book where it was said that the heart of a 35 years old Pastor was tested and it was like the heart of a man who was over 70 years of age. So, if you do not want that to happen to you, learn the value of raising leaders now, so that you can delegate to them when the need  arises.

When you read the book of Numbers 11:14-15(CEV), Moses cried out to God saying, “This job is too much for me. How can I take care of all these people by myself? If this is the way you're going to treat me, just kill me now and end my miserable life!” Do you know what God said when he replied Moses? God instructed him to delegate, in Numbers 11:16-17, “And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.” Remember that you cannot do it alone; you need the input of others.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You for I know that You love me. I thank You for I know that you have put the right people on my path, to help me at the right place and at the right time. Also help me to be a source of encouragement and support to others, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

As a leader, look for areas that have been a burden, and let God guide you on how and to whom you should delegate.

Success Is Not In Numbers.

“And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.”
1 Samuel 14:6

From our opening scripture, we see Jonathan speaking to his armour bearer charging him to come with him to the garrison of the Philistine to battle with them. Why was he confident to take such a daring decision to go and battle with thousands of trained men of the Philistine army? It was because he was conscious of their union with the LORD. This is evident in his words to his armour bearer in the latter part of our opening scripture; he said, “There is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.”

Are you aware that God is with you? The Bible says in Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”  If God, who is with you, is a very present help, it means you would never lack help. Are you aware that the word helper means, 'one that is called alongside to help.' The Holy Spirit is with you to advance your progress.

Jesus talking about the Holy Spirit in John 14:16(GNB) says, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever.” Today, that prayer of Jesus has been answered because we now have the Holy Spirit with us as our helper. In other words, the Holy Spirit is with us to help us fulfill our calling. So, walk with the Holy Spirit and you will surely fulfill your calling.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You for giving me the opportunity to partner with You in the fulfillment of Your plans and purpose on the earth. I recognize my union with You, and the divine presence of the Holy Spirit who helps me each day in the fulfillment of Your calling for my life. Father, I ask that, by the help of Your Spirit, I will finish my assignment on earth without reproach, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Change By The Word.

“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:…”
Psalm 19:7

I remember, before I became born again at seventeen, I had two friends who lived very close to my house. From time to time, my friends and I would come together and decide that we were  born again. We would agree that we’d no longer attend worldly parties any more, and then we would  all go back to our houses.

By Friday, after we have ‘tried to be born again’ for a period of time, and information got to us that there was going to be a party on Saturday in one of the most popular joints at that time known as Farm kitchen, very close to the estate where we lived in Warri, we would unconsciously begin to plan to attend.

On one of such Saturdays, I left my house for the party in Farm Kitchen without informing any of those  two friends of mine who agreed together with me to be born again. On getting there, I discovered that those two friends of mine have also come to attend the party without my knowledge. When we met ourselves there, we began to say to each other, “I thought you are born again.” So, right there, we agreed again that, that will be the last party we were going to attend; but it was not the last. We continued that way until I heard the gospel, believed it and finally made Jesus the Lord of my life.

All my struggles ended since the day I accepted Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour, which today is over twenty years ago. God's Word has completely transformed my life because I gave the Word of God the required attention. You too can be transformed by the Word. All you need to do is to get born again if you are not, and then give the Word of God the rightful place in your life, and you will be conformed to the image of the Son of God.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You because Your Word is producing in me what it talks about, and daily transforming me into the image of Christ, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

God Needs You.

“And I sought for a man …”
Ezekiel 22:30

When God calls you, answer the call because the destinies of many people out there are dependent on you answering your call. For instance, R.W Shambach was restored to Christ in an Oral Roberts meeting. What would have happened if Oral Roberts never answered his call? Maybe there would have been no R.W Shambach today. Now think about the numerous people around the world who have been saved and healed by the ministry of R.W Shambach. Those people may have continued in their darkness and their oppression if he was not saved.

Do you know that Jesse Duplantis got saved while watching Billy Graham on television? If Billy Graham never got on television, maybe Jesse Duplantis, who has also blessed so many with his ministry around the world, would not have been saved.

This is why we do the things we do. Someone may be wondering and ask, “Why are you on television? Someone's life depends on it for their salvation. So, as people get saved, all those who partnered with us will also be a part of the reward for all the souls that will be saved. More so, they will be a part of the reward of that individual that got saved because they made it possible for him to be saved.

So, you can see from the illustrations above that your obedience to God's instructions and His call upon your life have a far reaching effect in the lives and destinies of others.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You for the privilege of being called and used by You to be a blessing and to alter the destinies of many people out there for You. I ask that many more should be saved and transformed through my life and my involvement and partnership in the gospel, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Right Living.

“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.”
Psalm 119:9

Our opening scripture lets us know that if you want to live a pure life, you have to live your life according to the Word of God. Guide your life according to the Word of God.

Psalm 119:11 says, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” So, if you are struggling with sin, your deliverance and freedom is in the Word of God. All you need to do is to lay up the Word of God in your heart.

The Word of God will create in you a holy appetite. In other words, when your heart is filled with the Word of God, it will create in you new and right desires. The Word of God can restore you back to a life of purity and godliness.

If you have such challenges, especially with living a morally upright life as a Christian, know that the stronghold that causes you to keep on repeating that fault is in your mind. Therefore, for you to be able to change the pictures in your mind, I will encourage you to buy the videos of Christian messages and, instead of watching movies while you are at home, watch those messages.

Also, get a device you can use in listening to audio messages, such as an mp3 player, which you can put in your ears while you work during the day. This will help you to store the Word of God in your heart, and renew your mind to begin to think in line with the Word of God, which will create new desires for you to live godly in Christ Jesus.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You for the sanctifying influence of Your Word in my spirit, soul and body. They are preserved blameless till the day of Jesus Christ, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Be An Answer To Prayer.

“In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Judges 17:6.

Leadership is always the problem and leadership is always the solution. Why? It is because everything rises and falls on leadership.

From our opening scripture, we see that because of the absence of a King in Israel, the people did whatever was right in their eyes. In other words, because there was no clear leader over the people, they lacked guidance.

Leaders determine the direction of the group. So, when God wants to change a nation, He sends a leader. Why does He do that? It is because every call is an answer to prayer. In Judges 3:15, the Bible says, “But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer” So, God raised up a deliverer for His people because they cried up to Him in prayer.

It is one thing to have an answer to prayer; it is a greater thing to be an answer to prayer. There are women praying for their husbands to be saved. There are husbands praying for their wives and children to be saved. You can be an answer to their prayer by rising up to take up the responsibility of soul winning. Also, partnering with us as we reach out to our world with the gospel is a way of participating in the responsibility of soul winning.

This is because when that man, woman, boy, girl whom someone has been praying for their salvation gets saved through any of the means through which we are reaching out to our world with the gospel, God has, at that point, made you an answer to prayer because you were a part of it. It is a greater testimony. Therefore, be an answer to prayer.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You for saving me and giving me the ministry of reconciliation so that I can be an answer to prayer. I believe that the gospel is Your saving power. Therefore, I ask that, as I reach out to my world with the gospel today, their hearts are receptive to the message, and the blindness in their hearts is taken away in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Cultivate The Right Heart.

“…Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”                                   1 Samuel 15:22

Character is not revealed when there is a demand for your obedience. True character is revealed when obedience is a choice. For example, if I should give you an instruction, you would likely obey because I am a Pastor. But if someone you are not familiar with gives you the same instruction, you have a choice to obey or not. Obedience at that point becomes a choice, and that is where you reveal the quality of your character.

Cultivate a heart of obedience and true reverence for God. That is when you are going to be able to see the same kind of miracles that Jesus did being perpetuated in your own life. When Jesus walked this earth as a man, He was able to see such miracles and manifestations of the supernatural because, His complete satisfaction and passion was to obey the Father, and to do the will of the Father even when it was inconvenient.

Jesus said in John 4:34(WNT), “"My food," said Jesus, "is to be obedient to Him who sent me, and fully to accomplish His work.” Jesus said again in John 6:38(CEV), “I didn't come from heaven to do what I want! I came to do what the Father wants me to do. He sent me,”

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank you for you are at work in me, both to will and to do of your good pleasure, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Don't Be Discouraged.

“I will climb my watchtower and wait to see what the LORD will tell me to say and what answer he will give to my complaint. The LORD gave me this answer: "Write down clearly on tablets what I reveal to you, so that it can be read at a glance. Put it in writing, because it is not yet time for it to come true. But the time is coming quickly, and what I show you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, but wait for it; it will certainly take place, and it will not be delayed.”
Habakkuk 2:1-3(GNB).

If you are feeling discouraged and thinking of giving up on the visions  God has shown to you concerning your future, God has a word for you today.

He says to you; “If you will be faithful with little things that I entrust into your hands and learn to do things my way, I will begin to increase your influence little by little, little by little, until I show you forth to the world as the man or the woman that was raised by my Spirit, says God.”

Remain faithful where you are and in that which He has called you to do. The Bible says in Galatians 6:9(ALT), “Now let us not become discouraged [or, weary] in the doing of good, for at the proper time we will reap, not being discouraged [or, if we do not get discouraged].”
“You may say, “Lord I have been in preparation, I've been waiting. When will my time come?” You've been asking me again and again.

Yes, your waiting is not in vain for I am preparing you for the great things I have in store for you. Yes, the future I have in store for you is far greater than you can imagine. Yes, keep preparing, keep preparing, keep preparing, says the Spirit of God.”

Therefore, be encouraged by the word of God to you today, because your preparation is not in vain. Remember this saying, “Preparation time is never wasted time.”

Confession.
Dear Father, I hold on to Your Word to me above my feelings and every contrary evidence I see around me. I know that every word that has gone out of Your mouth would not return unto You void, but it shall accomplish that to which you sent it. Therefore, I am certain that the visions and prophesies You have given to me would all come through speedily in their season. I receive grace to remain faithful in this season of preparation. Amen.

Submit To Authority.

“Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” Hebrews 13:1
Do you obey those whom God has placed over you? Are you loyal to their leadership by being submissive to authority? Or you always want to have your own way. It is important you recognize that your spiritual leaders are answerable to God concerning you, and they must give an account to God. Will they do it with joy or with grief when it concerns you?

Developing the right attitude towards your spiritual leaders begins with having the right heart. Cultivate a heart of obedience to instructions. Whenever you are given an instruction, obey it. Don't make disrespectful comments concerning your spiritual leaders; they may not hear you, but God will hear you.

I want you to be aware that whenever we gather in His Name, in a service, there are angels there watching your order and your behaviour. Therefore, I encourage you to allow the Spirit of reverence guide your heart and your conduct in the house of God. You have come to the house of God for your salvation. Don't allow any bad attitude, irreverence or pride cause you to lose the fullness of what God desires to do in your life in this season.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that You grant unto me a perfect heart to do Your will, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

He Knew Your Limitations.

“Moses replied, "I have never been a good speaker. I wasn't one before you spoke to me, and I'm not one now. I am slow at speaking, and I can never think of what to say."
Exodus 4:10(CEV).

From our opening scripture, we see Moses complaining to God that he was not eloquent. In other words, he was conscious of his weaknesses.

As a leader, you must understand that you cannot lead well when you are constantly meditating on your mistakes and your inadequacies. For example, I know that there may be someone reading this devotional right now that may have been given a leadership position before, but you pulled back from it because you felt just like Moses in our opening scripture. You asked yourself that familiar question, “Who am I.” You said to yourself, “I cannot do this, I am not eloquent, I cannot preach like Pastor.” I told someone to preach one time and he said, “I cannot preach like you.”

As a leader, you do not have to try to be like somebody else. Be the you in you; that is what counts. Your success as a leader does not come from trying to look like another leader, or trying to talk like someone else. God has made you unique for your calling, but if you meditate on your inadequacies, the more fearful you will be to lead.

Understand that, before God chose you, He knew your limitations. Then He chose you so that He can help you become what you were born to be. For instance, when God chose me, I was a fearful lad; I could not stand before a crowd.

So, you may look at yourself and say, “I am not eloquent,” but I want you to read God's answer to Moses in Exodus 3:11-12(CEV) and let it change your view of you and give you fresh confidence to do what He has called you to do. “But the LORD answered, "Who makes people able to speak …? Who gives them sight …? Don't you know that I am the one who does these things? Now go! When you speak, I will be with you and give you the words to say.”

Confession.
Dear Father, Your decision to choose me in spite of all my previous weaknesses has humbled me. Your grace you have lavished on me has enabled me. Today, I step out into my world with confidence knowing that He that is in me is greater than he that is in the world. Amen.

Wisdom In Spiritual Things.

“But if I delay, this letter will let you know how we should conduct ourselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.”
1 Timothy 3:15(GNB)

The right attitude and behavior in God's house towards those God has placed in authority over you cannot be over-emphasized.

A minister told a story about a man who insulted a man of God and lost his mind as a result. This is why I am sharing these things with you so that, as you grow in Christ, you would not be ignorant of these things. You must recognize spiritual authority and have reverence for men of God.

When the man who lost his mind was taken to a man of God to pray for him because of the insanity, it was revealed that his insanity came because he insulted a man of God, and his full healing will not come until he goes back to make amends.

The Bible says in Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” It is important for you to be wise in spiritual things. Don't listen to the counsel of those who are unlearned in these things, even though they may be Christians. They are the ones who ask questions like, “Why do you honour your Pastor the way you do?” This is because they do not understand what it means for someone to be a man of God.

I pray that God will grant you an understanding of these things, and how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that You fill me with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that I may walk worthy of You, living a life that is fully pleasing to You today and always, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Bless With Your Words.

“A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!”
Proverbs 15:23

One word you tell someone can change their lives. One word you tell someone can lead them to commit suicide. One of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in my life on television said, she never knew she was beautiful because of the words she was told as a little child. So she hated herself and would cut herself every night until she bleeds.

This shows that what you say to little children matters as they are growing up. If you call them the wrong names and make them feel worthless, you may destroy their self-worth. This is because psychologists tell us that the mind of a child is blank, so he or she receives the words you say as the truth about who they are, and if those words are negative, you may just destroy their self-esteem and potential for greatness.

Every day I thank God for my mother. Everything I am today, apart from God and the books I have read, is because of my mother and my father. They had such positive influence over my life. So, what are you going to do with the influence you have over the life of your children, or that boy and that girl around you? Use your words to put them on the path of success and greatness. Don't talk them down. Instead, use your words to shape their lives for greatness.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You for You have given me the tongue of the learned to know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary at all times, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Your Attitude To Spiritual Authority.

“But if I delay, this letter will let you know how we should conduct ourselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.”
1 Timothy 3:15(GNB)

Today, I will like you to always learn to maintain the right attitude to spiritual authority especially in the way you conduct or behave yourself in the house of God, which is the Church of the living God. Do you know there are behaviours that are unacceptable in the house of God? For instance, showing contempt or despising an anointed man of God may have very serious consequences.

I will like to share a true story with you to explain this: A woman hissed while a minister was ministering in a church service. As a result, she became barren for years.

One day, she visited a genuine Prophet of God because of her inability to give birth. While the Prophet was ministering to her, it was revealed to him that she insulted a man of God, so he asked her if she ever insulted a man of God. She answered that she had never insulted a man of God. When he asked her, “Where did you hiss?, she immediately remembered how she had hissed in a service. Then, he instructed her according to the Word of the Lord, to go back to that Church where she hissed and apologize to the man of God, otherwise, she would never have a child.

When she went back to apologize to the minister in whose church she hissed, he said to her, “I did not hear you when you hissed,” but the woman still insisted that he should forgive her. So he told her that she was forgiven. That simple act of forgiveness shown by the minister delivered the woman from barrenness.
.
I encourage you to behave yourself with reverence in God's house. The man of God may not hear you hiss or hear those nasty or disrespectful remarks you make, but God hears you and his judgments are just. Therefore, be reverent.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that You expose every seed of falsehood that have entered into my belief system, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Remain Faithful.

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”
Luke 16:10.

Please don't trivialize your present assignment. It does not matter if you are leading two or three people. Do not take that opportunity for granted. You are there for a reason.

A dear man of God, Pastor Willy George, was preaching on television, and he never received a call for about a year. So, he decided to get off television, and he started producing movies for children. Then, it happened that a little girl, who has been watching his movies, was kidnaped by a man who kidnaps children, molests them and dismembers their bodies afterwards.

This murderer, in order to kidnap the girl, put up a false identity and came to their house. He knocked on their door claiming to be her uncle; he took the girl and drove her off town. In the process, she got to know that he was not her uncle as he was acting strange. Then she remembered what she watched in one of the Christian movies produced by Pastor Willy George, and said to the murderer, “In the Name of Jesus, take me back home.”

The man suddenly reversed and drove her back home. He alighted her in front of her house and zoomed off. The police and all those who knew about the activities of this kidnapper and murderer were all surprised and wondered how he left her unharmed. Then, the girl said it was because of what she learnt from Pastor Willy George's Show. That would not have happened if he had not answered his call to children's ministry.

So, be encouraged and know that your present assignment has a far more reaching effect than you can estimate. Keep on doing what you are doing because as you do, someone is being blessed, influenced and positioned to make a big difference someday.

Confession.
Dear Father, I ask that You open my eyes to see and my heart to understand the value You place in even the least service I render in Your house. Thank You Father for I receive grace to remain faithful in that which you have called me to do, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

No Right To Fail.

“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.”
Proverbs 12:24

Today, I will like to challenge you to determine in your heart that you will not settle for a life of mediocrity. Have you seen Nick Vujicic? He was born without hands. All he has is only one tiny leg, yet he is not poor today. He swims, he writes, he is a motivational speaker, he is married with children, he has spoken to thousands of people again and again even as he remains an inspiration to millions around the world. He did not allow his physical challenges to limit him. He did not determine his potential by what he looked like outwardly. So what excuse would you want to give on why you are not a success?

Zig Ziglar said, “A man is no failure until he begins to blame someone for where he is.” So, success begins with a sense of responsibility. One of the wealthiest women in America is black, from a very poor background yet she is a billionaire in dollars. She said she made up her mind to give a hundred and ten percent to everything she does. She said so because she knew that excellence is the greatest deterrent to sexism and racism.

Don't say words like, “If I was from a wealthy home, I know the way my life would have been by now.” Being born from a wealthy home does not mean you will get anywhere if you have the wrong mindset. Now you are already here, so do something with your life.  There are a lot of people who started from very poor homes but became very great.

Lester Calvin Brown was said to be mentally retarded and he saw himself and judged himself that way until he met an Algebra teacher who said to him, “Do not allow someone else's opinion of you become your reality.” This is because the way you see yourself is what decides the way you will act. Today, Lester Calvin Brown reads four books every week. Every time he is invited to speak for about 45 minutes to one hour, he is paid four hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

He was said to have been mentally retarded, but when he took responsibility by changing the view of himself and started reading, he became a success. That can also be your story if you do likewise.

Confession.
I declare that I am a success because I am a child of God. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. I have a sound mind, the mind of Christ, mental sagacity that surpasses human intelligence and nothing shall be impossible unto me in Jesus' Name. Amen.

“And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”
 John 17:19

As a leader who is after God's heart, there are certain things you would need to deny yourself because of those you lead. Jesus sanctified Himself, so that those He led will be sanctified. The same principle applies to us today; whatever you do not want to see in those you lead, do not practice yourself.

For instance, as a father, you are the leader of your home. There are certain things you must not get entangled with for the sake of your seed and your children. This is because, if you tolerate bad habits in your life today, you will fight the same in your children. Therefore, for their sakes sanctify yourself. This is what will give you the right to lead and make your children loyal to your voice.

Do you know that, as a father, you can lay up for your children a heritage of the blessing by the way you are living your life today? Live your life in obedience to God's will so that tomorrow, God can say to your children that He will bless them for your sake, just the same way He said to Isaac because of Abraham his father, “And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.” Genesis 26:24.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I am willing and obedient to do Your will. Lead me in the path of righteousness for Your name’s sake and grant me the grace to will and to do of your good pleasure always, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Doing the Word.
Always consider the consequences of your actions and desist from any wrong behaviour you discover because of your children and those you lead.

The Renaissance Effect.

“So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.” Acts 19:20.

God has called us as a ministry, “To take the love of God, the Word of God and the healing power of God to every individual, every home, every city, every state, every nation, every continent every day, through every available means.” That is our vision. Our mission is, “To reach every individual in this world with the gospel, in order to raise fully functioning followers of Christ in every nation”.

What does God want us to achieve with our calling? What is our destination? “To raise a people who are like Jesus” - a people who can fully express the character of Christ wherever they find themselves. That is why we are reaching out with the message God has given to us every day, on radio, television, the internet, with our daily devotional, etc. By the grace of God, souls are being saved, healed and transformed on a daily basis through this ministry.

Some years back, I got a call from Gabon, and the young man said he listened to my broadcast while he was in Nigeria and he has been richly blessed by it. He is from the eastern part of Nigeria. So, he called, asking me to pray for him and keep him in my prayers. We've received calls from persons who have lost all hopes and were just about to commit suicide when they heard the message on radio. Then they called in, told us about it and received salvation. Just think about the numerous people we are reaching everyday by what we do.

By the grace of God, our members have become ambassadors of this commission as well. For example, we have received testimonies from our members who traveled abroad with our messages on CD's and by them, so many have been blessed. Also, through the impact of the ministry, A Word In Due Season is also been printed in South Africa, blessing the lives of many there.

I thank God that we are making a difference in this world with the message of this new life more than we could ever know. Praise God!

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You for the glorious things You are doing through Your Church today. I ask that You will continue to amplify our impact as we continue to reach out to our world with the gospel of the kingdom, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

For further study, read: Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 8:4-8, 2 Corinthians 5:17-20.

Doing the Word.
Pray that the Word of God would spread rapidly all around this nation and around the world using 2 Thessalonians 3:1.

Who Is A Leader?

“The mark of a good leader is loyal followers; leadership is nothing without a following.”
Proverbs 14:28(MSG)

Who is a leader? A leader is someone others are willing to follow. A boss, on the other hand, forces others and threatens them to follow him. A leader inspires. If nobody is following you, you are not leading.

For instance, Jesus Christ, who is the gold standard of leadership, was someone others were willing to follow. Jesus never coerced anyone to follow him. That is why till date, it is believed that Jesus Christ is the greatest leader of all time.

Through the years and even today, some religions and most political leaders are followed because of their conquest of a territory or the power or force (military might) they command.

The question you will need to answer in appraising yourself as a leader in any capacity, whether in the church, government, business, family, etc, based on today's devotional, is this: “Are others pleased to follow you willingly?” If others are not inspired to follow you willingly, you are not leading effectively.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank You because You are causing me to increase in favour both with You and with all men, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

For further study, read:
1 Samuel 10:26, Matthew 4:19-22, 2 Corinthians 8:5.

Doing the Word.
Pray daily for those you lead. That is one of the keys to having influence over them.

Adequate Leadership.

“And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.”
Acts 6:1.

Whenever there is the problem of neglect in any organization, it is because of the absence of adequate leadership, just as we see from our opening scripture, the Grecian widows being neglected in the daily ministration. Therefore, we must continue to raise leaders who will take care of the areas of neglect and reach out to those who feel neglected. For instance, we must raise leaders to reach out to those who feel neglected in the Church, so that these neglected individuals can then be adequately fed with the Word of God and be well brought up spiritually.

This also applies to your work place or business. Delegate whatever seems to be neglected by you. More so, delegate whatever has become a distraction from your primary assignment.

We also see that, from our opening scripture,  murmurings and neglect surfaced in the church because there was a multiplication in the number of disciples. This reveals to us that whenever your influence increases, there will always arise the need for more leaders. Therefore, one of the keys to success, as a leader and even as an individual, is understanding and defining your priorities. The Apostles said in verse 2 of Acts chapter 6; “… It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.”

The Apostles had to redefine their priorities in other for them to increase their effectiveness. By so doing, they were able to raise more leaders. Why is it important for you to define your priorities? It is because, without defining your priorities, you cannot make good leadership decisions that will increase your effectiveness. This is because your priorities are the yard sticks you use in making decisions.

This was clearly evident in the lives of the Apostles as we see in Acts 6:1-2. The moment they defined their priorities, they were able to make decisions that solved the problem of murmurings and neglect.

Prayer.
Dear Father, open my heart to be able to understand my true priorities and areas in my leadership that need more attention, so that there will be no area of neglect in my life and leadership, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

For further study, read: Exodus 18:17-26, Deuteronomy 1:9-15, Numbers 11:16-17.

Doing the Word.
Take out some time to define your priorities. In a scale of 1-100, what are the 20 percent things required of you as a leader that produce 80 percent of your results? Focus on those things and delegate the others to faithful men.

The Gold Standard...

“The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.”
 Luke 6:40

In learning about leadership, who you follow is very important because you will become like the one you follow. The Message Bible puts our opening scripture this way, “An apprentice doesn't lecture the master. The point is to be careful who you follow as your teacher.” This is important because whoever you choose as your mentor is an embodiment of your values.

The New International Version puts our opening scripture this way, “A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.” Who do you really want to be like? Paul the Apostle in writing to the Philippian Church in Philippians 3:12 said, “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.” This reveals to us that the gold standard is to be like Jesus.

Therefore, before you follow anyone, make sure the person’s live inspires you to become like Jesus. Also, if you are a leader in any capacity (this applies to everyone because someone is following you whether you realize it or not) make sure you embrace, embody and reflect the vision, virtues and values seen in the life of Jesus to those you lead because that is the gold standard of leadership.

Instruction.
