Desire the Word.
“Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: "It takes more than
bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from
God's mouth."”
Matthew 4:4(MSG)
What food is to the body the Word of God is to the spirit.
The body feeds on physical food while the spirit feeds on
spiritual food. Therefore, it means that it takes more than
bread to stay alive as seen in our opening scripture because
man is not only physical.
Having this understanding that you are more than a body, and
that you need a steady stream of the Word of God to stay
alive, I encourage you to make a decision today to give
attention and priority to your spiritual development.
Spiritual growth is not automatic. It is not measured by how
long you have been a Christian. Spiritual growth requires
intelligent, intentional spiritual practices. You may have
been a Pastor or a Deacon for a long time; it does not mean
that you are growing spiritually. The intensity of your
desire for the Word of God is what determines the speed of
your growth. This was why after I joined my home church as a
new convert many years ago, in a short while I was
counseling and ministering to those who had been born again
before me. Why? The intensity of your desire is what
determines the speed of your growth.
Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that you grant unto me the Spirit of
wisdom and revelation in the deep and intimate knowledge of
you, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
