The necessity of spiritual growth.

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”
Acts 20:32(KJV)

Our opening scripture lets us know that when the Word builds you up, then it gives you an inheritance. This means that you cannot access your spiritual inheritance without spiritual maturity.

I want you today to ask the Lord to stir up in you a genuine hunger for the Word of God in your life. Such hunger for the Word that will drive you to study your Bible consistently. I want you to know that the deposits of the Word that you are putting in your spirit consistently will definitely rise to dominate your heart and your mind until the character of Christ is completely formed in you.

Therefore, I encourage you to get a disk man or a device you can use to listen to messages whenever you want and wherever you are throughout the day. Flooding your heart with the Word of God this way will keep you in health, because it will develop your spirit man and make you strong. Listening to the Word consistently will also help to renew your mind, helping you to think rightly, speak rightly and to live godly.

Jesus said in John 8:31-32, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Therefore, the proof that you are a disciple of Jesus is to continue in His Word, when you continue in His Word, you will know the truth, when you know the truth, you will not need to struggle to be free because that truth you know will make you free.

Prayer.
Dear Father I thank you because the Word of your grace is building me up, and as I continue in your Word, my inheritance in Christ is revealed to me, and I am established in the truth, which eliminates all struggles and weaknesses from my life in Jesus Name. Amen.

Wisdom in the Word.

“… the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.”
Psalm 19:7(KJV)

Our opening scripture, lets us know that the testimony or the teachings of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

If you are one of those who always complain of forgetting, what you need to do is to spend time in the Word of God, especially meditating on the Word, and it will activate your brain. Brain cells live and die, and new brain cells are created. But it is important you know  that the Word of God has creative ability, and one way you can create new brain cells is by spending time in the Word of God.

I heard the story of a man who had a son that had autism. Autism is a condition that disrupts the psychological development of an individual that affects his speech,  interpretation of the world, etc. This boy kept on watching Joel Osteen everyday, consistently listening to the Word everyday.

One day, his father came to him and the boy who had this psychological condition, who should not be able to make any statement straight,  began to make the same confessions he has been hearing on Joel Osteen's program fluently. What enabled the boy and activated his brain? It was the entrance of God's Word, the Word went into him and gave him light and understanding.

Confession.
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that God has not given me the spirit of fear, but of power of love and of a sound mind. I have a sound mind, the mind of Christ, mental sagacity that surpasses human intelligence. Amen

Prayer of Salvation

If you have not yet made Jesus the Lord of your life, we encourage you to pray this prayer:

"O God, I come to you today. I know am a sinner and have committed sins. But I believe in my heart that you died for me, you were buried for me, and you were raised from the dead on the third day for my justification.

I take you as my Lord and personal Saviour. I declare that I am saved, I am born again from this day forward. In Jesus Name. Amen."

We say congratulations to you. You are now a born again child of God and we will like to help you grow spiritually so get in touch with us through any of our contacts below:

Change by the Word 2.

“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:…”
Psalm 19:7(KJV)

I remember before I became born again at seventeen, I had two friends that lived very close to my house. From time to time, my friends and I will come together and decide that we are now born again. We will agree together that we will no longer attend worldly parties any more, then we will all go to our houses.

By Friday, after we have tried to be born again for a period of time, when information got to us that there is going to be a party on Saturday in one of the most popular joints(Farm kitchen) in the estate where we lived in Warri. We unconsciously began to plan to attend.

On that Saturday, I left my house for the party in Farm Kitchen without informing any of the other two friends of mine who agreed together with me to be born again. On getting to the party, I then discovered that the other two friends of mine, have also come to attend the party without my knowledge. By the time we met together there, we began to say to each other, “I thought you are born again.” So, right there, we agreed again that this will be the last party we are going to attend, but it was not the last. We continued that way until I heard the gospel, believed it and finally made Jesus the Lord of my life.

All my struggles ended since the day I accepted Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour, which today is over twenty years ago. God's Word has completely transformed my life because I gave the Word of God the required attention. You too can be transformed by the Word. All you need to do is to get born again if you are not, and then give the Word of God the rightful place in your life, and you will be conformed to the image of the Son of God.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank you because your Word is producing in me what it talks about, and daily transforming me into the image of Christ in Jesus Name. Amen.

Right living.

“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.” Psalm 119:9(KJV)

Our opening scripture lets us know that if you want to live a pure life, you have to live your life according to the Word of God. Guide your life according to the Word of God.

Psalm 119:11 says, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” So, if you are struggling with sin, your deliverance and freedom is in the Word of God. All you need to do is to lay up the Word of God in your heart.

The Word of God will create in you a holy appetite. In other words, when your heart is filled with the Word of God, it will create in you new and right desires. The Word of God can restore you back to a life of purity and godliness.

If you have such challenges, especially with living a morally upright life as a Christian, know that the stronghold that causes you to keep on repeating that fault is in your mind. Therefore, for you to be able to change the pictures in your mind, I will encourage you to buy the videos of Christian messages, and while you are at home, instead of watching movies, watch those messages.

Also, get a device that you can use in listening to audio messages like an mp3 player which you can put in your ears while you work during the day. This will help you to store the Word of God in your heart, and renew your mind to begin to think in line with the Word of God, which will create new desires for you to live godly in Christ Jesus.

Prayer.
Dear Father I thank you for the sanctifying influence of your Word in my spirit, soul and body, they are preserved blameless till the day of Jesus Christ, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Don't hold back.

“…they had first given themselves unreservedly to God…”
2 Corinthians 8:5(MSG)

Our opening scripture explains further to us how we ought to give ourselves completely and absolutely to God, following the example of the Macedonian church.

When you give yourself to God like this, there will be nothing that you have that will be too big for you to give to God, in worship to Him.

One time in a service, I was making some declarations over God's people as led by God's Spirit. As I did, one of our members in the congregation was prompted in his spirit at that point to give his shoes which was very expensive, and immediately, he came out to give it on the altar in obedience as a committed worshiper. As a result, favour broke out in his life, and that young man who sells shoes, even though he had no shop at that time, was able to buy a new car within a year.

Child of God, God is no respecter of persons, this is why the Bible says in Isaiah 1:19, “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” It is your obedience and unreserved committal to God that will determine the level of abundance you will enjoy.  God may have spoken to someone else in that service to give his shoes, but he hesitates. The person who hesitates and the one who responds promptly cannot get the same results in their lives.

Therefore, whatsoever God says to you today, do it promptly.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank you for grace to be a prompt doer of your Word and your instructions to me in Jesus Name. Amen

True worship.

“So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer.”
Romans 12:1(GNB)

Today, it is important I share with you the importance of worship even as you desire to grow spiritually.

In worship, you reverence God, you lose all self consciousness, and your heart is completely turned to God. As a result, God overwhelms your heart, even as you begin to feel the presence of God and His power all over you. He may even begin to speak to you, even as you worship. What makes these things possible? It is worship and reverence for God from a heart totally turned over to Him.

From our opening scripture, we understand that worship is beyond singing; it is offering yourself to God, and dedicating yourself to His service and all that pleases Him. The Bible tells us of the Macedonian church in 2 Corinthians 8:5(GNB), “…First they gave themselves to the Lord; and then, by God's will they gave themselves to us as well.”

If you say you worship God, the question I will like to ask you is this: “Have you offered yourself to God with all your mind, your heart, your body, your strength, your money, and all that you have?” Until all that you have belongs to Him, you are not yet a true worshiper.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that you cause my love to increase and abound more and more in knowledge and in all judgement, even as I offer my mind, my heart, my body, my strength, my money, and all that I have to you for your praise and glory in Jesus Name. Amen.

Have the mind of Christ.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
Philippians 2:5(KJV)

The Word of God instructs us to have the same mind like Jesus had, the question you need to ask yourself is this: “What was Jesus’ mind like?” The Bible says in Philippians 2:6-11, “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

We see that Jesus was highly exalted because He obeyed the Father, you also would be exalted by the Father if you choose to walk with that same mind; a mind of humility and obedience to God's purpose and His will for your life.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that you cause me to stand perfect and complete in all the will of God for my life. Let Christ be formed in me in Jesus Name. Amen.

Cultivate the right heart.

“…Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”                                       1 Samuel 15:22(KJV)

Character is not revealed when there is a demand for your obedience, true character is revealed when obedience is a choice. For example, if I should give you an instruction, you would likely obey because I am a Pastor. But if someone you are not familiar with gives you the same instruction, you have a choice to obey, or not to obey, obedience at that point becomes a choice, and that is where you reveal the quality of your character.

Cultivate a heart of obedience and true reverence for God. That is when you are going to be able to see the same kind of miracles that Jesus did been perpetuated  in your own life. When Jesus walked this earth as a man, He was able to see such miracles and manifestations of the supernatural because, His complete satisfaction and passion was to obey the Father, and to do the will of the Father even when it was inconvenient.

Jesus said in John 4:34(WNT), “"My food," said Jesus, "is to be obedient to Him who sent me, and fully to accomplish His work.” Jesus said again in John 6:38(CEV), “I didn't come from heaven to do what I  want! I came to do what the Father wants me to do. He sent me,”

Be reverent in God's house 3.

“Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”
Hebrews 13:17(KJV)

Do you obey those whom God has placed over you? Are you loyal to their leadership by being submissive to authority? Or you always want to have your own way. It is important you recognize that your spiritual leaders are answerable to God concerning you, and they must give an account to God. Will they do it with joy or with grief when it concerns you?

Developing the right attitude towards your spiritual leaders begins with having the right heart. Cultivate an heart of obedience to instructions. Whenever you are given an instruction, obey it. Don't make disrespectful comments concerning your spiritual leaders, they may not hear you, but God will hear you.

I want you to be aware that whenever we gather in His Name, in a service, there are angels there watching your order and your behaviour. Therefore, I encourage you to allow the Spirit of reverence guide your heart and your conduct in the house of God. You have come to the house of God for your salvation, don't allow any bad attitude, irreverence or pride cause you to lose the fullness of what God desires to do in your life in this season.

Be reverent in God's house 2.

“But if I delay, this letter will let you know how we should conduct ourselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.”
1 Timothy 3:15(KJV)

The right attitude and behaviour in God's house towards those who God has placed in authority over you can not be over emphasized.

A minister told a story of a man who insulted a man of God and lost his mind as a result. This is why I am sharing these things with you so that as you grow in Christ, you would not be ignorant of these things. You must recognize spiritual authority and have reverence for men of God.

When the man I told you about earlier was taken to a man of God to pray for him because of his insanity, it was revealed that his insanity came because he insulted a man of God, and the full healing will not come until he goes back to make amends.

The Bible says in Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” It is important for you to be wise in spiritual things. Don't listen to the counsel of those who are unlearned in these things, even though they may be Christians. They are the ones who ask questions like, “why do you honour your Pastor the way you do?” This is because they do not understand what it means for someone to be a man of God.

I pray that God will grant you an understanding of these things, and how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that you fill me with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. So that I may walk worthy of you, living a life that is fully pleasing to you today and always, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Feed your mind with the Word.

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
Ephesians 4:23-24(KJV)

Today from our opening scripture, we see that if your mind is renewed, you will be able to put on the new man, in other words, your spirit man would be able to dominate your body. It is then you will be able to say no, to the wrong desires and passions of your body.

Renewing your mind is very important because, what you think about, is what is going to determine what you desire. So, if you change your thoughts, before long, your desires will change.

For instance, there are some persons who began to live an immoral life, after they began exposing themselves to sexually explicit materials. Therefore, those wrong information they fed their mind with, negatively programmed their thoughts, causing them to have the wrong desires, which makes them vulnerable to sin and other uncleanness.

Therefore, we see that the struggles many have in their lives, is because of their thoughts. So, if you will begin to introduce the Word of God to your mind, by  reading, listening to messages, and meditating on the Word, it will renew your mind, and you will find out that you will begin to grow spiritually, and your desires will be in line with the Word. That's how to put off the old man with its deceitful lusts.

Turn away from all lusts.

“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;”
Ephesians 4:22-23(KJV)

Now that you are born again, God expects you to put off or change from your former way of life with its foolish and corrupt desires. This is a practical step that you have to take. You have to consciously and deliberately choose to turn away from all lusts and deceptive desires.

As you do, you will be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind, and when your mind stays guarded and renewed by the Word of God that way, it will become easy for you to live a holy life.

Some people are praying to God to make them live a holy life, while some others are casting and binding the spirit of smoking and other bad habits. But the Word of God clearly shows us what we need to do so we can live holy lives. The Bible tells you to be renewed in the spirit of your mind. This is because your life will go in the direction of your most dominant thoughts.

Therefore, Romans 12:1-2(GNB), “So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God---what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.”

Prayer.

Cast down imaginations.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
 2 Corinthians 10:5(KJV)

From our opening scripture today, we see that it is our responsibility as believers to cast down imaginations or reasoning in our minds that are contrary to the Word of God, and to bring every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Having the wrong imaginations, reasoning and thoughts can cause your spiritual growth to become stunted. And this is the reason why some believers have not been able to receive their healing, because their minds have not been renewed by the Word of God.

For you to be able to know and understand the voice of God very clearly, your mind has got to be renewed  with the Word of God. Those Christians whose hearts has not been renewed by the Word of God, are not familiar with the voice of God, they are the ones who make statements like, “'something' was telling me.” They refer to God as 'something', because they don't know Him, neither do they know His voice, because they do not know His Word.

There are some others who hear His voice, but they find it difficult to obey, why? Their minds have not been made captive to the obedience of Christ, this makes them lack the will to do God's Word because their hearts are not perfect towards God. This is why the Bible says in James 1:21(GNB), “So get rid of every filthy habit and all wicked conduct. Submit to God and accept the word that he plants in your hearts, which is able to save you.”

Prayer.
Dear Father I ask that you strengthen me with might according to the riches of your glory by your Spirit in my inner man. May I be strengthened to do what I ought to do and may my will be strengthened to refuse to do what I shouldn't do, in Jesus Name. Amen.

Go for knowledge.

“Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:”
Ephesians 4:18(KJV)

From our opening scripture, we see that through ignorance, the unbeliever is separated from the life of God. This shows us that we connect with spiritual verities through knowledge. This will help you understand that the reason why those who are not saved still remain in darkness is because of the blindness of their heart as a result of the ignorance that is in them.

This is why Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, …” So, how do you renew your mind? You renew your mind with the Word of God. It is when your mind has been renewed by the Word of God that you will be able to conceive the thoughts of God, and think God's thoughts with your mind.

Flood your mind with the Word of God by hearing, reading, studying, and meditating on the Word, so that you can begin to reshape your thinking in line with God's thoughts. This is important because your life will take on the character of your thoughts, Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: …”

Therefore, I encourage you to take responsibility for your life by renewing your mind with the Word of God today, so that you will be able to know the good, acceptable and perfect will of God for your life.

The necessity of the Word.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17(KJV)

Today, I will like to encourage you to fill your mind with the Word of God, because the Word is food for your spirit man. Spend time meditating on the Word of God and listening to the Word of God, because as you do, you will grow faster spiritually.

I want you to know that as you feed on the Word of God consistently, before long, you will be so full of the Word, in such a way that the words you speak will be clothed with the Word of God, and your mind will be so influenced in such a way that you can only think possibilities.

When the Word of God dominates your thinking in this way, nothing will be impossible in your thinking. You will no longer think in terms of impossibilities and difficulties because you will be operating from the realm of the Word.

In the realm of the Word, nothing is impossible. This is because, the realm of the Word is the realm of faith. The Bible says in Matthew 17:20, “…If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. ” This is the realm that God wants you to operate from, so get to the Word and become limitless in your thinking.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I thank you because as I give time to your Word, my faith is being built up for limitless possibilities for a life of heaven on earth in Jesus Name. Amen.

The agent for spiritual growth.

“Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
1 Peter 2:1-2(KJV)

Reading from our opening scripture, we are able to see some of the characteristics of babes in Christ. They keep malice, they are hypocritical, they envy and they speak lies and evil of others. The cure for all these character defects in the life of a Christian, is the sincere milk of the Word of God.

Christian spiritual growth does not just take place because you are a member of the choir, or you are a member of the usher in a Church. You don't even grow spiritually just because you are a Pastor. I want you to know that the Word of God is the agent of spiritual growth.

Therefore, if you are not making time for the Word of God in your life, you will not grow up spiritually. This is what explains why someone can be a Christian for the past eighteen years, and still remain a  spiritual baby. So, if you are not making time for the Word of God in your life, you will not  grow up spiritually.

Your measure of spiritual growth, is the measure to which the Word of God has dominated your life. It is important you know that the Word of God that you don't know cannot dominate your life, so you must desire to hear and study the Word of God.

Also, you measure your spiritual growth by how much of Christ is seen in you. Are you becoming more like Christ? That is what you should use in measuring your growth as a Christian.
