Grow up spiritually

"But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night."

Psalm 1:2(AMP)

Your spiritual appetite is an indication of your spiritual health. Naturally, how do you know someone is sick? He loses his appetite for physical food. In the same way, if you do not have appetite for the Word of God, you are spiritually sick. This is because the Word of God is food.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, "... It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." It is evident from this verse that bread is food for the outward man, while the Word of God is food for the inward man; your spirit which is the real you.

If all you do is to read the Bible and memorize it, you are not going to grow spiritually. You will not grow spiritually by memorization. You grow spiritually by meditating on the Word of God. Memorization is getting the Word of God into your mind.

Meditation is getting the Word of God into your spirit. That is why you can memorize the Bible all the years of your life and never change. You remain with the same bad habits, oppression and struggles because you are not growing. A lot of people feel that the long period they have being born again and going to church is equivalent to spiritual growth. No sir.

You grow spiritually by meditating and feeding your spirit with the Word of God. 1 Timothy 4:15 says, "Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all."

Prayer.

Dear Father, I thank you because your Word is producing in me what it talks about even as I meditate on it, in Jesus Name. Amen.
