Truly faithful

"That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many." Nehemiah 7:2

From our opening scripture, we see that one of the characteristics of a man who is faithful to God is the fear of God.

Do you have the fear of God in your dealings? A faithful man is conscious in all his dealings knowing that he is accountable to God. He therefore seeks to do only those things that pleases God. A faithful man reverences God and His Word above all else.

Proverbs 8:13 says, "The fear of the LORD is to hate evil …" Job 28:28 says, "And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding."

A good example of a man whose faithfulness was evident in his fear and reverence for God is Daniel. The Bible says concerning him in Daniel 6:4, "Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him."

Daniel was faithful to such a degree that in all his dealings in the kingdom, there was found no crookedness in him because he did them with a perfect heart and he was faithful. The Bible shows that the only way the unbelieving princes could fault Daniel was in his commitment to God. They conspired to use his commitment to God against him, yet, he remained faithful to God even when he knew his life was at stake. (Read Daniel 6:5-23) That is true faithfulness and it is what God expects from us all.

Instruction.

If there is any way you know you are compromising, repent from it and commit afresh to be faithful in your dealings.
