"Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful."
1 Corinthians 4:2
From our opening scripture, we see that faithfulness is a requirement. A requirement is a necessity. This means that God is saying that it is a necessity for you to be faithful.
What does it mean to be faithful? The word for faithful in the Greek is the word 'pistos' which means to be dependable, trustworthy, true, etc. Edwin Lois Cole said, "Faithfulness is the cornerstone of character." It is important that you build your life on faithfulness. This is because no one can build on moving blocks. Buildings are built on stable blocks. Make faithfulness the cornerstone of your character. Be dependable and trustworthy.
From the scriptures, we notice that faithfulness counted even with Jesus. For instance, when Jesus called the Apostles it was required for them to leave all and follow Him. The Apostle Peter said to Jesus in Mark 10:28, "…Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee." Jesus reply to Peter shows us that He always rewards faithfulness. "And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life." Mark 10:29-30.
Choosing to walk in the path of faithfulness today is a positioning for a great future.
