Have a mentor 1
“And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.”
Luke 2:46
A very important tip that could help facilitate your success in life is to choose a mentor or mentors. Our opening scripture shows us that even Jesus who is said to be the greatest leader that ever lived was not proud. We see that he was also a learner, He sat in the midst of the doctors hearing them and asking them questions. Who are you following?
In Matthew 4:19 Jesus said to Simon Peter and Andrew his brother, “… Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Paul said to his sons in the gospel in 1 Corinthians 4:14-15, “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.”
Job 8:7-10 (BBE) says, “And though your start was small, your end will be very great. Put the question now to the past generations, and give attention to what has been searched out by their fathers: For we are but of yesterday, and have no knowledge, because our days on earth are gone like a shade: Will they not give you teaching, and say words of wisdom to you?”
Do not be too proud to apply yourself to the wisdom of those who have gone ahead of you. It will amplify your speed in life. Job 8:9-10 (MSG) says, “For we're newcomers at this, with a lot to learn, and not too long to learn it. So why not let the ancients teach you, tell you what's what, instruct you in what they knew from experience?”
Prayer.
Dear Father, teach me to number my days that I might apply my heart unto wisdom. Teach me to always discern truth and the good and the right way for a life of distinction and excellence, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
