“Now the snake was the most cunning animal that the LORD God had made… The snake replied, "That's not true; you will not die. God said that because he knows that when you eat it, you will be like God and know what is good and what is bad." Genesis 3:1, 4-5(GNB)
I want you to know that it was satan who spoke through the snake to the woman in our opening scripture. We know this because satan is always rebellious against the Word of God. He loves to question the integrity of the Word of God, and by so doing, corrupt the heart of his prey with doubt and then lure them with his deceitfulness and their lust.
Satan's primary aim is to see to it that you doubt the Word of God. This is because he knows that when you start doubting the Word of God, you will become vulnerable to deception.
In 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12(GW), the Bible says, “He will use everything that God disapproves of to deceive those who are dying, those who refused to love the truth that would save them. That's why God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe a lie. Then everyone who did not believe the truth, but was delighted with what God disapproves of, will be condemned.”
It is important you know that every step away from the Word of God is a step into deception. So, do not doubt the Word of God you have heard, read and received into your heart.
Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that you will cause me to stand firm and hold on to the truths which I have been taught in this devotional. May I be strengthened with your grace with unfailing courage and a firm hope. May I be enabled by You to always abide in the truth in thoughts, words and deeds, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
