Guard your heart.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10
The thief been referred to in our opening scripture is satan. One of the reasons he comes is to steal. So, what does he steal? In the parable of the sower told by Jesus in Mark 4, it is revealed to us that the primary thing that satan is after to steal from you is the seed of the Word of God sown in your heart.
The Bible says in Mark 4:14-15, “The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.” Satan cannot steal your joy or any other good thing you have in Christ until he steals the Word of God in your heart.
Satan steals the Word in your heart because he knows that the Word of God is the source of your joy and every other good thing you have in Christ. In John 15:11 Jesus said, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” The Word in you is what sustains your joy.
Also, John 1:1-3 lets us know that the Word of God created all things therefore it is the source of all things. Therefore if satan cannot steal the Word of God in your heart, he would not be able to steal your joy or any other thing you have in Christ. “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23 (AMP).
Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that you cause my heart to be good ground for your Word always. I ask that your Word will always produce abiding fruit in me whenever I hear it even as I continually make progress and prosper by the Word, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
