The law of confirmation.

Tuesday, March 21st.
The law of confirmation.

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
Romans 8:16

Everything that someone claims to be a message from God should bear witness with your spirit. This is what the law of confirmation teaches. A very good account in scripture that emphasizes the law of confirmation was the encounter that led to the salvation of Cornelius the Roman centurion and his family.

In Acts 10:5-6 an angel appeared to him as he prayed and gave him the following instructions, “And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.” After the angel had instructed Cornelius on what to do, he obeyed and sent men to search for Peter. The Lord bearing witness to the law of confirmation also showed Peter a vision (See Acts 10:9-17). While Peter still thought on the vision and doubted not understanding what the vision meant, the Lord spoke to Him audibly in Acts 10:19-20, “…Behold, three men seek thee. Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.” On hearing this Peter went out to them and finally went down with them to Caesarea  where Cornelius, his family, kinsmen and near friends were waiting to hear the words from Peter that ultimately led to their salvation.

The connection between Cornelius and Peter was only made possible by the law of confirmation. Therefore, whatever anyone says that is from the Lord should bear witness with your spirit because the Lord always confirms His Word.
