Decide To Obey God 2
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
Philippians 2:5-8.
Today, we are going to continue examining the decision to obey God. Jesus Christ is our role model for obedience. He obeyed even to the death of the cross to show us how we also ought to cultivate a life of obedience if we are going to fulfill our purpose.
What is obedience? Obedience is a choice. It is the voluntary exercise of the will in compliance with the instruction from a superior authority.
Obedience in the kingdom of God is not coerced, it's a choice. Jesus choose to obey God by making Himself of no reputation. This means that humility is a choice.
Also, in the kingdom of God obedience precedes promotion, provision and protection. Every time there is a loss in our lives, we can trace it to a point of disobedience. Every time you violate a divine instruction, you open yourself to loss and destruction.
A minister of God was involved in a plane crash, he was spared but his wife's knee was broken and many others were injured. He said, before they took the flight, his wife told him that she sensed in her spirit that they should not travel, but he didn't listen because he gave the people his word so he had to go. Thank God his life was spared. Yet, this shows us that it pays to obey God.
Prayer.
