Don't borrow

“The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”  Proverbs 22:7(KJV) Our opening scripture shows us that the rich would always have dominion over the poor and the borrower is slave to the lender. Don't borrow. This is because every time you borrow, you are saying you will be a slave to whoever you borrow from. Do you know that borrowing can be traceable to impatience? This is because when you borrow you want to enjoy today what you should enjoy tomorrow. You want to have today, what you can have tomorrow. So borrowing...

Train up your child

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6(KJV) The word train in our opening scripture means to narrow the child. This means that training is aimed at giving you a focus. To train up a child also means to discipline a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. I encourage you if you are a parent reading this today to take your children and your teenagers seriously. The reason is because you have to narrow them in the way they should think,...

Your self perception

“And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”  Revelation 1:6(KJV) During the French revolution in the 1700, they killed the king and his wife, but they captured his young son alive. They didn't want to kill him because they felt he was innocent and if they killed him, he will go to heaven, so they decided to give him to a witch to teach him how to curse, then they will kill him so he could go to hell because they hated his father. While the witch tried to teach the young...

How much do you know

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: …” Hosea 4:6(KJV) The word destroyed in our opening scripture is from the Hebrew word 'damah,' it means to perish, to destroy, to fail, to be brought to nothing, to be made dumb, to be brought to silence, etc. Therefore with the understanding of the word destroy, it means that God is saying here that my people fail because of a lack of knowledge, they are brought to nothing because of a lack of knowledge. I want you to know that you are not where you are today because of the village you came from....

Always give your best

“Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, …”  John 12:3(KJV) Our opening scripture stresses the value of the pond of ointment of spikenard Mary brought to anoint Jesus, the Bible says it was very costly. That is very important for us to take note of. This meant that she did not bring her left over to give to Jesus, instead she brought her very best. Don't give God your left over. Your left overs are not for God. It is not a sacrifice when you bring something you don't need anymore or something you want to get rid of...

Partner with the gospel

“Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.”  Psalm 35:27(KJV) Today, I want to encourage you to favour God's righteous cause by getting involved with partnering with the gospel. For instance, one of the ways you can partner with the gospel is by getting involved with the free distribution of A Word In Due Season. This is because not everybody can buy a devotional, but when you give so that it can go out...

Consider the poor

“Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.”  Psalm 41:1-2(KJV) Do you know that when you give to someone in need or you give to the poor it keeps you in health? Your reaction to the needy can also determine God's reaction to your health. The Bible says in our opening scripture, “Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time...

Live consistently

“…turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.”  Joshua 1:7(KJV) When you learn to function consistently in the light of God's Word, you will prosper wherever you are and wherever you go. My life as a minster of the gospel is a testimony of this truth because I prospered when I was in Benin City, the city where our church started from. We were on radio once a week and the church was growing till we began to have two services. When the Lord told me to come to Bayelsa State I obeyed...

Be consistent 3

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”  Proverbs 22:29(KJV) The Bible shows us that if you are consistent and diligent you will indeed stand before kings and not before mean men; otherwise known as area boys in local parlance. If you are a business person reading this today, the question I will like to ask you is this, are you consistent in your business? Or you are unpredictable. For instance I have been to places to buy something and you hear them saying that the person...

Be consistent 2

“Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:7(KJV)  I heard a story of a man named Steve Scott, he was always failing on his job until he met a dear man of God who counseled him saying that if he would read the book of Proverbs everyday, reading a chapter everyday for five years, he will be a millionaire. So he choose to begin reading the...

Be consistent 1

“Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.”  Joshua 1:7(KJV)   The Bible in our opening scripture begins to show us some of the conditions for Biblical prosperity. One of the principles we see here is consistency. You have to have a consistency in the Word of God, this means that if you are unstable you cannot have permanent prosperity. This...

Don't envy the wicked

“Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.”                    Psalm 73:13(KJV) The Psalmist in our opening scripture laments because of his sincerity to God after he had compared himself with unbelievers who seemed to be doing well and prosperous. He felt God had not rewarded him right for living in sincerity and purity. Do you know that there are Christians like that today who compare themselves with unbelievers and feel like God had not treated them fair enough?...

Reverence God 2

“O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.”  Psalm 34:9(KJV) I heard a dear minister of God speak concerning his passion and reverence for the Lord. This minister said he had made up his mind to be the biggest offering giver in his church. When I heard that, I was stirred to begin to practice the same thing, and by the grace of God I have been going higher and higher in every way. Why do I give the way I do? It is because of my high regard for God. Therefore what I will not give to my fellow man I will not...

Reverence God 1

“The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.”  Proverbs 19:23(KJV) Our opening scripture shows us a very important virtue we ought to cultivate in our lives. This virtue is the fear of God. Having the fear of God refers to having reverence for God. To have reverence for God is to hold him in high regard. Do you hold God highly in reverential fear and honour? The Bible says in Proverbs 19:23, “The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied;...

Partner with God

“Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.”  2 Chronicles 26:1(KJV) Today I will like to show you a principle that will help you in your journey of prosperity. Our opening scripture today tells us about Uzziah who became king as a teenager of sixteen years old. The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 26:3 that, “Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem.” What made it possible for him to reign for such a long time...

Do you want to be rich?

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” Matthew 6:31-32(KJV) Today I will like to ask you a question, why do you want to be rich and prosperous? I wonder what your sincere answer to that question really is. Our opening scripture exposes to us what the Gentiles or unbelievers seek after, the reason why they want to be rich and prosperous is because...

Who is a fool?

“For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.” Proverbs 1:32(KJV) Our opening scripture tells us that the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. Who is a fool according to the Bible? A fool is first of all a person who have refused to acknowledge God. The Bible says in Psalm 53:1, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God…” Another definition of a fool is found in Proverbs 1:22 where the Bible says that, “…fools hate knowledge?” So a fool is someone who despises knowledge. The Bible...

The purpose of prosperity

“And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”  Genesis 12:2-3(KJV) From our opening scripture we see that there was a purpose for the blessing that was upon Abraham. God blessed him for a definite purpose by giving him a global vision, and that vision was for him to be a blessing to all the families of the earth. There is a reason why God...

Go for knowledge 2

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”  Acts 20:32(KJV) Our opening shows you that it is the Word of God that will give you your inheritance. This means that without the Word of God, you would not be able to take a hold of your inheritance. I heard the story of a Pastor whose church was not growing, so he took out some time to go and study his Bible. As he studied, God showed him the secret of the multitude...

Go for Knowledge 1

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”  1 Corinthians 2:9(KJV) From our opening scripture, we see that there are things that God has made ready for those who love Him. I want you to notice that even though these things are already prepared, the Bible says no eye had seen it, no ear had heard it and it had not entered into any man's heart because it was not revealed to them, but 1 Corinthians 2:10 says, “But God hath revealed...

The Knowledge of wisdom 2

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  John 8:32(KJV) Child of God I want you to know today that your lid in life is your knowledge. Secondly, it is important you understand that you can only take possession of what you know. In other words, you cannot take possession of what you don't know is yours and begin to enjoy it. It is from the moment you know it is yours you can confidently take possession of it and begin to enjoy it. Do you know that faith is based on knowledge? You cannot express your faith beyond...

The Knowledge of wisdom 1

“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”               Luke 12:32(KJV) Our opening scripture shows us that God likes to bless His children. Do you know that God likes to bless you? As simple as that question seems to be, there are many who do not know that God takes pleasure in doing them good. This is why satan takes advantage of them because satan always takes advantage of the ignorant. God said in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...

The focus of God's love

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”  3 John 1:2(KJV) Our opening scripture today shows you that you are the beloved. God calls you His beloved. Now, who is the beloved? The word beloved is from the Greek word 'agapetos' which refers to someone who is the focus of God's love. Please make this declaration out loud, say, “I am the focus of God's love.” In Jeremiah 31:3 God said, “… Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn...

You are highly favoured

“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”  Ephesians 1:5-6(KJV) The Bible in our opening scripture lets us know that we are accepted in the beloved. Now I will like to explain to you what it means to be accepted in the beloved. The word accepted is from the Greek word 'charitoo' it means to be highly favoured. This means that the Bible is saying to you child of God...

A life of Prosperity

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”  Romans 8:32(KJV) From our opening scripture today, we see that the death of Jesus Christ for us is God's guarantee that He wants to meet all your needs. So if you believe that Jesus died for you, it is God's guarantee to you that He will meet all your needs. Please make this declaration out loud, say, “God wants me to prosper. God is happy when I prosper. When I prosper the goodness of God is manifested to all men.”...

Depend on the blessing

“The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”                   Proverbs 10:22(KJV)   According to the Word of God in our opening scripture, it is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich. The Bible shows us how God spoke to Abraham and blessed him in Genesis 12:1-3, then in Genesis 13:2 the Bible says, “And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.” What made Abraham very rich in such a short time? It's the blessing. Child of God I want you to know...

Think Prosperity

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he …” Proverbs 23:7(KJV) Today I will like to tell you the story of a minister of God who was into full time ministry. For a long while after he answered his call, he suffered lack. At this time also, his wife was eight months pregnant and they had nothing in their house except salt. During this time his wife decided to go out to help do the laundry in other people's houses to help sustain them. One day, as this Pastor studied his Bible at home, he came across Luke 12:32 where the Bible says, “Fear not,...

A plan of prosperity

“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”  2 Corinthians 8:9(KJV) The Bible says in our opening scripture that Jesus became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. Abraham Lincoln once said, “One thing you can do to help the poor is not to become one of them.” This is because if you are poor you can't help the poor. It is the rich that provides jobs for the poor. Poverty does not glorify God in anyway, that is why...

God wants you to prosper

“Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.”  Psalm 35:27(KJV) For the most part when people think about prosperity, all that comes to their minds is money and having a lot of it. Yes it is true that when you are prosperous you will have money, but having money is not what defines prosperity. Having money is financial prosperity which is just one area of prosperity. God wants you to prosper financially,...

To prosper

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”  3 John 1:2(KJV) In the Old Testament, to prosper is from the Hebrew word 'tsalach' which means, to push forward, to break out or to break forth, to come mightily, to advance, to make progress, to increase. Therefore to be prosperous means to be endowed with the ability to go forward. In the New Testament, to prosper is from the Greek word 'euodoo' which means, to succeed in reaching, to help on the road, success, to make progress,...
