“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”
Psalm 42:5.
Today I want to conclude our study on why people commit suicide by showing you the anatomy of suicide. It starts with consistent disappointments. The frustrations that accumulate from incessant disappointments leads to discouragement. Discouragement is a negative emotion from the heart and spirit. If that discouragement and feelings of hopelessness is not checked it will lead to depression.
When you are depressed and in despair it is because you have looked away from God. Perhaps you have put your hope in things and in imperfect men. If this depression is not checked, it leads to suicidal thoughts.
The fact that you do not have what you need does not mean that you are worthless. Jesus said, “…Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” Luke 12:15.
I want you to know that life is not measured by money, cars, popularity or influence. The true measure of who you are is who you are in God's sight. You are the apple of His eyes. A man was stripped naked to embarrass him but he said afterwards that he didn't lose his dignity because he knew that there was more to him than his clothes. He was mentally prosperous because he knew that he was still who he is without his clothes. For instance, if you should strip a Prince of his clothes, he is simply a Prince that is not wearing clothes, that does not change who he is, he is still a Prince. I encourage you to stay in the Word of God to protect and sustain your mental health and confidence in your true identity in Christ.
