Authority from the Word.

“And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.” 
Acts 9:1-2(KJV)

I will like you to notice in our opening scripture that Saul went to the high priest to ask for letters to take to Damascus. Why was those letters important for him to collect? Those letters gave him the right, authority, and jurisdiction from the high priest to command and enforce obedience against the disciples of the Lord in Damascus. In other words, authority was been delegated to him from the high priest through those letters.

Paul attested to this in Acts 26:12 when he recounted this event saying, “Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,” Showing that the letters gave him authority and commission from the chief priest.

Why is this significant for us to understand? It is significant because we also have been given letters from our Heavenly Father, which have been documented for us in the Bible. These words are not ordinary, they are the legal documents authorizing us with the right and commission to command and enforce obedience in the Name of Jesus. The Bible also shows us our jurisdiction in the Name of Jesus as influencing things in heaven, things on earth and things under the earth, because the Bible says in Philippians 2:10, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;”

Confession.
I declare that I have a more sure Word of prophecy authorizing me with the right and commission to command and enforce obedience in the Name of Jesus, of things in heaven, and things in the earth, and things under the earth to the glory of God the Father. Amen.
