You can understand

“And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.”
Matthew 13:10-11(KJV)

Jesus said in our opening scripture to his disciples, “…it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven,” This means that if you are a child of God, according to the words of Jesus, “…it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven,” The word ‘know’ in that verse is from the Greek word 'ginosko' which means to understand. In other words, we can say that it is given to you to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.

In talking about understanding the kingdom, Jesus goes on to say in Matthew 13:12, “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.” This means that when you have understanding, God will give him more understanding. The man that doesn't have understanding, even that which he has will be lost. This shows us that we can only retain what we understand.

The first step in understanding is knowledge. The Bible says in Psalm 82:5, “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: …” This means that you cannot understand what you don't know. This is why I am bringing to you information from God's Word. Information is the transference  of knowledge, and understanding is insight into knowledge.

Therefore I want to encourage you today to always pray for understanding; you can ask the Lord to grant you understanding of any subject in the Word of God, or any area of your life, or any assignment you have to carry-out, or concerning an important decision you have to make, ask confidently from the Father because you know it has been given to you to understand.

PRAYER
Dear Father I thank you because you have given me the ability to know and understand the mysteries of the kingdom. I thank you Father for insight and revelation into your plan and purpose for my life in Jesus Name. Amen.
