Psalm 119:27(KJV)
Today our opening scripture shows us that we can only communicate effectively what we understand. This is because if you don't understand something you would not be able to explain it. That is one of the reasons people fail exams; it is not because they did not read, its because they didn't understand what they read, because you will only remember what you understand.
Psalm 119:33 says, “Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.” This shows us that consistency is a product of teaching. This is why if you are under a Teacher of the Word of God you will be able to walk a consistent Christian walk. Why? It is because consistency is a product of understanding purpose, principles and patterns. This is because God is a God of purpose, principles and patterns. So if you don't understand these things, there are many things you will lose out on.
Psalm 119:34 says, “Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.” This shows us that your behaviour will conform to the Word of God to the measure that you understand it. The reason some persons are not living right is not because they don't want to live right, it is because they lack understanding of the Word of God.
Change is impossible without understanding. Therefore it is when you understand the Word of God that you can change. Making vows or putting a curse on yourself will not change you. The way you are going to change is by understanding the Word of God. Understanding is the missing link in the Christian walk in many lives. Many have so much knowledge but little understanding. Proverbs 4:7 says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
