Extending God's Kingdom

“And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.”
 Genesis 10:10(KJV)

Our opening scripture today reveals the first time the word kingdom was used in the Bible. The word ‘kingdom’ is from the Hebrew word, 'mamlakah.' Mamlakah means dominion, estate, rule, country, realm, sovereignty, etc. Now from these words listed we are able to deduce that the word kingdom is a territorial word.

For instance an estate or a territory has definite borders, therefore we can deduce from this that the word kingdom carries a territorial imagery. It has been said that the word kingdom is from two words; king and domain. Therefore we can define kingdom as a sphere or a region where the power and the authority of a king is recognized. Kingdom can also be defined as the realm of a king's rule and domain, this refers to the territory of a king's influence.

God is a King, and we who are sons and daughters of God are in the kingdom of God. But there are territories on the face of the earth that have not been submitted to the influence of our King. This is why Jesus said to us in Mark 16:15, “… Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Jesus commands us to go into all the world because there is a god of this world system who controls this world system referring to the kosmos in the Greek. The ‘kosmos’ refers to the orderly arrangement or the seven spheres of influence in society; referring to the family, religions, governments, economics, education, arts and entertainment, and mass media.

Therefore as children of God our responsibility in kingdom invasion is to bring the kingdom of God into these spheres by setting up strategies and praying strategically for these seven spheres of society. We also have to train God's people to go into these spheres to influence them and to establish God's kingdom within these spheres of family, religions, governments, economics, education, arts and entertainment, and mass media. By so doing we will be extending the territory of Jesus influence.
