You and your marriage.
“Marriage is honorable in every way, so husbands and wives should be faithful to each other. God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery.”
Hebrews 13:4(GW)
A lady came to Andrew Womack and asked him to pray for her for God will fix her marriage. He replied with a question, “Are you born again?” She said, no, but went on to say that the most important thing to her at that time was her marriage. Andrew Womack said, “Really! Do you know that if you die right now you will go to hell?” She replied saying that she knows. He then asked her again, “When you are burning for eternity in hell, will marriage matter to you then?” She said, no. Then he encouraged her to get saved first and after she got saved, he prayed for her marriage, and it was restored.
From the story above, you will observe that the lady never thought of her salvation or the consequence of not getting saved. All she was concerned about was her marriage. She did not put the first thing first, so the problem continued in her marriage.
Today I want you to know, especially those of you having challenges in your marriage, “Your marriage is a reflection of your relationship with God.” The Bible says
in Ephesians 5:22, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” So, if the wife does not know what it means to be submitted to the Lord, how can she submit to her husband? A woman that is fully submitted to the Lord will submit to her husband. The same thing applies to the husband: if he has not received the love of God, he cannot love his wife as Christ loved the Church according to Ephesians 5:25.
The success of your marriage as a Christian is hinged on your relationship with God. As a wife, learn what it means to be submitted to the Lord and express the same to your husband. As a husband, understand the depth of Christ’s love towards you and the Church and express the same to your wife.
Instruction
Please pray for married couples around the world today; that those who are not saved will come to know the Lord, break the power of darkness causing strife and division among couples and ask the Lord to establish their hearts in His love.
