Love has temperance.

“… Love isn't selfish or quick tempered...” 1 Corinthians 13:5(CEV)

Our opening scripture shows us one of the characteristics of love by letting us know that love is not selfish or quick tempered. To be selfish means to be self centered, in other words, you are concerned only about your own needs, desires and wishes, but love is not selfish.

Love is selfless. Love is willing to endure and tame all selfish emotions, and put the needs, and the good of others first before her own.

Also we learn from our opening scripture that love is not quick tempered. In other words, love is not easily provoked to anger or annoyed. This proves to us that love has self control.

The same is not true of lustful people. Lustful people; who are driven by inordinate affections are hot tempered. If they do not show it outwardly by getting into a rage or showing extreme anger, they bottle it up inside of them, and continue to burn with hatred and meanness inside.

Love can control anger because it is self controlled and humble. Lust is prideful and boastful. Love is eternal, but lust is temporal.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I ask that you weed my heart from every form of lust and self centeredness. Let Christ be formed in me, in Jesus Name. Amen.

DOING THE WORD
Love your neighbors as yourself. What you do not want others to do to you, do not do it to others.
