Rational vs Subjective

Rational vs Subjective

“And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.”
Genesis 25:28

Our opening scripture highlights the difference between a man and a woman in the way they love. Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison, but it was not stated why Rebekah loved Jacob. The reason given why Isaac loved Esau shows that the love of man is rational. In other words, it is based on reason. A woman's love is subjective; in other words, it could be based on her feelings or emotions. That is one of the reasons women can find themselves in love with a man before taking his character defects into consideration.

In understanding the difference between a man and a woman, you must understand that a man's love is rational, based on reason. For example, fathers are often referred to as faith, while mothers as grace. Faith requires truth, but grace is unconditional.

When you were younger growing up at home with your parents, you would notice that for your father to be happy, you would have to do something that pleases him. On the other hand, no matter what you do, your mother's love is constant.

Therefore, I encourage every father reading this today to know that they have a responsibility to love every child unconditionally in spite of his or her character defects.

Doing the Word.
As a Christian, allow the Word of God to dominate your heart above your natural inclination to love.
