Love your wife.
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”
Ephesians 5:25
Our opening scripture shows every husband that the kind of love he ought to have for his wife should be the kind of love that Christ has for the Church. This means that, as a married man, you should love your wife just as Christ loved the Church.
From the scriptures, we know that the love that Christ has for the Church is a self-giving love. Therefore, as a married man, your love for your wife must be a self-giving love. You must constantly give of yourself to her, because Jesus gave himself for the Church.
Secondly, I want you to see the purpose of this self giving love from Ephesians 5:26, “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.” This means that Jesus loved us so that, He can sanctify and cleanse us by the washing of water by the Word.
Therefore, as a married man, be conscious of the words you speak to your wife. Let your words make her know that you respect and honour her. Don't insult your wife. Hold her in high esteem. Remember, she is bone of your bone, and flesh of your flesh. Both of you are one.
As a husband, inspire your wife, speak well of her. Don't talk her down. Use your words to make her what you want her to be. It is your love for your wife expressed through your words that will make your wife without fault.
Finally, Ephesians 5:28(CEV) says, “In the same way, a husband should love his wife as much as he loves himself. A husband who loves his wife shows that he loves himself.”
Instruction.
Please pray for married couples that God will give them the wisdom to know how to do marriage God's way and to grant them a better understanding of their spouse. Pray that peace and prosperity will be sustained in their homes.
