A better testament.

“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”
2 Corinthians 3:6 (KJV)

The Bible lets us know in our opening scripture that we have been made able ministers of the new testament. Then the Bible says, not of the letter(law) but of the Spirit: because the letter killeth but the Spirit gives life.

From the above, we see a comparison being made between the old testament and the new testament. The law was given on the day of Pentecost in the old testament and the Holy Spirit was given on the day of Pentecost in the new testament.

On the first Pentecost in the old testament, three thousand people died, in the new testament when the Holy Spirit was given, three thousand people were saved and given life. Now you can begin to understand why the Bible says that the letter(law) kills but the Spirit gives life.

So, the Holy Spirit has not come to kill you, He has come to help you and to give you life. This is why the Bible says in Romans 8:1-6 (GNB) “There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law of sin and death. What the Law could not do, because human nature was weak, God did. He condemned sin in human nature by sending his own Son, who came with a nature like our sinful nature, to do away with sin. God did this so that the righteous demands of the Law might be fully satisfied in us who live according to the Spirit, and not according to human nature. Those who live as their human nature tells them to, have their minds controlled by what human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants. To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.”

CONFESSION
Dear Father I yeild my mind and my spirit to the influence of your Word and your Spirit. May the life of God inundate my whole being because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus as made me free from the law of sin and death.
