Live from your spirit.

“As time went on, his master's wife became infatuated with Joseph and one day said, "Sleep with me." He wouldn't do it. He said to his master's wife, … my master …. treats me as an equal. The only thing he hasn't turned over to me is you. You're his wife, after all! How could I violate his trust and sin against God?” Genesis 39:8-9(MSG)

Someone may want to ask a question saying, “How are we going to live right if we don’t have the law of Moses?” The question I will like to ask here is, “How did Joseph live right?” This is because Joseph did not have the law of Moses because Joseph was before Moses. So how did he live right?

In Genesis 39, the Bible shows us the response of Joseph when he was asked by Potiphar’s wife to sleep with her. This was his answer, “… how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”(Genesis 39:9 KJV) I want you to notice that at this time there was no law, yet Joseph called what his masters wife tried to lure him to do wickedness and a sin against God. And yet at this time there was no law written down saying, Thou shall not commit adultery. Yet Joseph knew it was a sin against God.

After the law was given to the Children of Israel and even till date, there are people who still break the law even though they are well aware of what the law says. This revels to us that the law was not the solution. But rather your behavior is only a reflection of your relationship with God.

Sin is disorder in conduct. Sin is a spiritual condition revealed in a man’s conduct. So when a man is living in sin, he is not just sinning because he wants to sin, it is a reflection of his spiritual condition. In Romans 7:23-24, Paul depicts the dilemma of the man outside of Christ who then asks a question saying, “who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” Paul provides the answer in Romans 7:25 a, “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  And the Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made him(Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Therefore, by our faith in the finished works of Christ, we have been made the righteousness of God. Praise God.
