How to pray?

“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, …” Luke 11:1-2

Prayer is a verbal request or demand made on God the Father based on His Word with the promise to meet that need. From our definition it becomes obvious to us that when we pray, we speak. Prayer is not thinking; you cannot pray in your mind. From our opening scripture Jesus said when you pray, say. So if you are not saying anything you have not prayed.

Secondly, when we pray, we pray to God the Father. Jesus said in John 16:23, “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.”

Thirdly, you pray based on the Word of God. 1 John 5:14 says, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”

Fourthly, you must pray in faith knowing that God has promised to meet your need. 1 John 5:15 says, “And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” James 1:5-7, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”

Instruction.
In line with your understanding of these principles above make your request known to God today.
