Why we need intercessors …

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23

It is clear to us from our opening scripture that the wages of sin is death. Ezekiel 18:4 also shows us that, “…the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” But we learnt yesterday that God does not take pleasure in the death of a sinner, rather He wants them to repent and live. So, what does God do? Since man is a free moral agent, in other words, man has the opportunity to make his own choices. God has to find a way to reach him in his sins while he still has the opportunity to repent. That is to tell you how loving God is and how much He prizes highly the soul of man. Every sinner that dies is an eternal loss to God.

Therefore, in order for God to reach the sinners so that destruction would not come upon them because of their sins, the Bible says to us in Ezekiel 22:30(NIV), “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” Would God find you to stand in the gap on behalf of the nation? All God is seeking for is an intercessor; one man or one woman, someone to stand in the gap on behalf of the nation, it could also be for an individual, a family, a village, a city, etc.

Your prayer life counts. Your prayers alone can save a whole nation. Never underestimate the power of prayer. Will you be an intercessor today? God is counting on you.

Doing the Word
Stand in the gap, do not hold your peace until you see God's will established in the nation, your family, city, etc. (Also, pray for the nation according to 2 Thessalonians 3:1 that the Word of God will spread rapidly and freely in every State.
