Tuesday, July 12th Jesus is the Christ. “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 16:16-17 Opinions are man-made perceptions but revelation is seen from God's perspective. In Islam, they call Jesus a prophet. Some cults say Jesus is a Christ, because there are many other christs. Both Islam and the cults are wrong because those are the opinions of men concerning who Jesus is. The Bible gives us God's perspective on who Jesus really is. He is more than a prophet and He is not a Christ. Jesus is the Christ. The word Christ is from the Greek word 'christos' which means the anointed One. In other words, He is the One in whom dwells the fullness of the Godhead. He is the God man; He is hundred percent God and hundred percent man. Jesus is the Son of the living God, according to the Bible. Yet there are some who argue that God cannot have a Son. The Bible says in Luke 1:35, “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” The power of the Holy Spirit came upon Mary, reacted with her womb and produced a child. Jesus is the Son of God. The Bible says in John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” Therefore, if you doubt these fundamentals of the Christian faith, your Christian experience will be crippled.
