Balanced growth. Monday, July 18th “And Jesus matured, growing up in both body and spirit, blessed by both God and people.” Luke 2:52(MSG) From our opening scripture, it is obvious to us that Jesus grew physically and spiritually. That is balanced growth. This means that spiritual growth is as important as physical growth. Do not just concentrate on feeding yourself physically; prioritize feeding yourself spiritually as well. Matthew 4:4(MSG) says, “Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: "It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God's mouth."” There are many people who live their lives on bread alone, but Jesus is teaching us that it takes more than food to stay alive. Just as you eat physical food every day, do you also eat spiritual food every day? In John 6:63 Jesus said, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” The physical food you eat is from dust and it sustains your physical body which is also from dust. Your spirit man is made up of the substance in God, and the Word of God which comes from God has the same substance because the Word of God is God. So, if you are going to feed your spirit, you must feed your spirit on the Word. Deuteronomy 8:3(MSG) says, “…so you would learn that men and women don't live by bread only; we live by every word that comes from GOD's mouth.” Prayer. Dear Father, I choose to lay aside all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and I receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save my soul. Your Word is producing in my life what it talks about, in Jesus' Name. Amen. For further study, read: Luke 2:40, Acts 17:11, 1 Timothy 4:13. Doing the Word Ensure that you feed your spirit everyday. Bible reading for today: Luke chapters 1-6.
