Saturday, July 23rd Learn from Jesus 2. “And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” Luke 2:51 Notice from our opening scripture that Jesus increased in wisdom as he subjected Himself to His parents. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:5, “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” Grace increased in Jesus' life because He was humble. Do not exalt yourself before time. This is what we must also learn from Jesus - the character of humility. In Matthew chapter 3, the Bible records that Jesus went to John the Baptist who, in the realm of the spirit, was less than Him, to be baptized. When John saw Jesus, the Bible says in Matthew 3:14-15(GW), “But John tried to stop him and said, "I need to be baptized by you. Why are you coming to me?" Jesus answered him, "This is the way it has to be now. This is the proper way to do everything that God requires of us." Then John gave in to him.” When Jesus humbled Himself this way, laying aside His reputation, He pleased the Father. The Bible says in Matthew 3:16-17, “…the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 1 Peter 5:6 says, “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” If you are going to see the mighty hand of God, you must humble yourself. Prayer. Dear Father, I choose to humble myself under your mighty hand. I receive grace to serve with humility always, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
