Lead

“Ye are the salt of the earth …”
Matthew 5:13a.

If you are a Christian, from all you have been studying in this devotional, it is obvious that God has called you to be a leader. Therefore in the last three days of this month, I will be sharing with you a few thoughts on leadership that will compliment what you have been learning since the beginning of the month.

The first thing I want you to understand is that leadership is influence. What is influence? It is the ability to determine outcomes. For example, when a man is referred to as an influential man, it means he can make things happen.

Our opening scripture calls you the salt of the earth. Salt preserves, it gives taste; therefore salt determines outcomes. Hence, if you are the salt of the earth, it means you were called and raised by God to be a difference maker. This is why you must lead. If you do not lead, you will have to serve or be led by others. Jesus said, “… but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” Matthew 5:13.

If you are a Christian and do not embrace your call to lead in your field, the world will lead you. This is why as a Christian, I have made my mind to draw my cues and inspiration from men and women of God in different fields rather than drawing my cues and inspiration from the world because I realized that I am called to be the salt of the earth. I encourage you to embrace your calling and lead.
