The scripture of truth 2.

“But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
2 Timothy 3:14-17

The scriptures are able to make you wise. The root word from where we get the word wise in the Greek is where we also get the word sophisticated. This means that you are not sophisticated until you are grounded in the scriptures. Therefore we can say that a man is not truly refined until he is grounded in the scriptures no matter how educated he is.

I will like you to also notice that the scriptures will make you wise unto salvation. This means that the way to salvation is revealed to us in the scriptures alone. Therefore any other teaching concerning salvation that is not consistent with the scriptures (that is, through faith in Christ Jesus) is false.

This is because the scriptures are useful for doctrine Which refers to teaching. This means that the scriptures contain knowledge that will give you an advantage on every subject. The scripture is useful for reproof and for correction. This means that consistent study of the scriptures will turn the light on in your spirit and help to expose every seed of falsehood that has entered into your belief system. The scriptures will admonish you and set you on the right course. Finally, the scriptures are useful for instruction in righteousness. This means that the scripture is God's instruction manual on justification and training for right living.  

Therefore, 2 Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
