One man.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Romans 5:12
Today, I will like to answer the question some people ask wondering why will only one person die and his death will cover for the sins of the whole world.
Our opening scripture shows us that sin entered into the world by one man and death by sin. So we see that sin is the sting of death; so anywhere sin is, death can come in. Therefore, when God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree in the midst of the garden, God also told Adam that the day he eats of it, he will surely die. (See Genesis 2:17) In other words, his sin will bring death upon him. This was why when Adam eat of the fruit of the tree in disobedience to God, he died. Since Adam was the first man, the death affected his seed; so, death passed upon all men.
Therefore, since death came from one man, all it will require to bring life is the sacrifice of one man. Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”
So, just as sin and judgment passed onto you because of one man Adam's sin, now by reason of what one man Jesus Christ did, you can receive the gift of righteousness and reign in life over sin and death.
Romans 5:18-19 say, “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
Confession.
In the Name of Jesus, I declare according to the Word of God in Romans 5:17 that just as death reigned because of Adam's offence, now that I have received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness; I reign in life over sin and death by One, Jesus Christ. Amen.
