Pray With Thanksgiving 2

“Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to You, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.” Psalm 28:2 (NKJV)

Our opening scripture is a prayer of David and he spoke about lifting up his hands towards the holy sanctuary. This is significant because two of the words for praise and thanks, 'toda' and 'yada' is the lifting of the hand.

Therefore whenever you are praying with your hands lifted up, you are giving God thanks without knowing.

Psalm 141:2 (NKJV) says, “Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” This shows us again today that prayer without thanksgiving is incomplete. Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 2:8, “I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;”

Intentionally make a practice of thanking God for the answer whenever you pray for anything in this season. Before Jesus Christ multiplied bread and fish in John chapter 6, He first gave thanks, “And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.” John 6:11 (NKJV).

Instruction
Give the Lord thanks for all He has done, what He is doing and what you expect Him to do for you in this season.

For further study, read:
John 6:23, John 11:41-44, Acts 27:35, 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

Doing the Word.
Always conclude your prayer with thanksgiving because it is an expression of your faith that God has heard you.
