“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15.
One principle you must diligently pay
attention to so you can grow spiritually is
this: 'Growth is sustained by discipline.’
For instance, some scholars tell us that it is from the
word 'disciple' we get the word 'disciplined ones.’
Therefore, if you want to grow spiritually, do not
study the Bible only when you feel like it. Do not
pray only when you feel like it. Rather, study and
pray because you have to and because your whole
life depends on it.
Sometimes when you are praying, it may seem dry
as you start but do not stop. Do not listen to your
emotions. As you continue, you will become stirred
up in your spirit with more fire and grace to pray
more fervently.
When you begin to pray, you are gathering
momentum spiritually, as you continue you will
build yourself more on your most holy faith until
you rise like an edifice higher and higher. This is
what the Bible tells us in Jude 1:20 (AMP), “But you,
beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your
most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice
higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit;”
Always remember that growth takes effort, so you
have to make the effort to grow by doing what you
need to do not because you feel like it but because
you have to.
Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that You pour out upon me
the Spirit of grace and supplication, in Jesus'
Name. Amen.
