“Like newborn babies hungry for milk, you should
want the pure teaching that feeds your spirit. With it
you can grow up and be saved.”
1 Peter 2:2 (ERV)
Today, I want you to know that for you to
grow spiritually, you must have a desire to
grow because growth is fueled by desire.
This is another important principle to note
concerning spiritual growth.
Do you have an appetite for the Word of God?
Naturally, there are people who are heavy eaters.
They are that way because of the kind of appetite
they have for physical food. Do you have a large
appetite for spiritual food? Our opening scripture
says, “Like newborn babies hungry for milk, you
should want the pure teaching that feeds your
spirit. With it you can grow up and be saved.”
Job said in Job 23:12, ”… I have esteemed the words
of his mouth more than my necessary food.” If you
desire the Word of God that way you will grow
because we prioritize what we desire and what we love.
The speed of your growth is determined by the
intensity of your desire.
There are two important things to growth; one is
humility which is the willingness to learn and the
second is desire. Those two things will take you far
in your Christian experience. If you are not growing
fast then your desire is weak.
Prayer.
Dear Father, today I lay apart all filthiness and
superfluity of naughtiness, and I open my heart
to receive with meekness the engrafted Word,
which is able to save my soul. May Your Word
produce in me always, what it talks about, in
Jesus' Name. Amen.
