Benefits of knowing Jesus as Christ 2.

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Matthew 16:18 (KJV).).

We see from our opening scripture, that knowing Jesus as the Christ would give you a new identity. We see Peter, who was otherwise known as Simon, was renamed Peter (a living stone or a stone founded on a larger rock). His identity changed because of his revelation of Jesus as the Christ.

I want you to know that when you come into Christ, you receive a new identity. 2 Corinthians 5:14 says, “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:” In other words, when Jesus died, we died in Him, just like when Adam sinned, we sinned in him. We see this in Romans 5:12 where the Bible says, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” Also, Romans 5:19 says, “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” So, we see that just as through Adam's disobedience, we were made sinners, by Christ's obedience, we are made righteous.

Therefore, when you know Christ, your identity changes from that of a sinner to the righteousness of God in Christ. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 1 Peter 3:18 says, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”

When you get to know Christ and come into Him your identity completely changes. The Bible says to us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Now, this new identity that we have in Christ as His righteousness, frees us from all condemnation. Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

CONFESSION
I have been made free from every form of condemnation of the devil because I have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I declare that I have a new identity in Christ; I am a new creature. I have been justified; made just as if I never sinned, because all my sins have been remitted and washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ. Sin has no power over me anymore. Amen
