Sanctified Completely

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

1 Thessalonians 5:23

The word ‘sanctify’ in our opening scripture, is from the Greek word 'hagiazo.' It means to make holy. This means that our opening scripture could read thus, "And the very God of peace make you holy, wholly; …" This also shows us that man exists in three realms: spirit, soul and body. Paul prayed saying, "…I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." This means that God wants you to be preserved holy in your spirit, soul and body. Your body is actually a suite for your spirit. The real you is a spirit, you have a soul and you live in a body.

You are a spirit, you are not a body. Your body is your house. Therefore, you are not supposed to be controlled by the dictates of your body. You are not supposed to be sense ruled. Your spirit is the life principle in you. As such you ought to live from your spirit. The word spirit also means breath. So, the reason you are breathing is because your spirit is active in your body. The moment the spirit leaves the body, the body no longer breaths. That is why breathing is a sign of life. See Job 27:3.

God wants you to have victory in all three realms of your life. That is why He wants your whole spirit, soul, and body preserved unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. God takes a hold of your spirit the moment you submit to the Lordship of Jesus and He makes you a new creature. God takes a hold of your soul and transforms you completely when you submit to the authority of His Word by listening, studying and meditating on it. As you do, your body will be vitalized by the Holy Spirit that dwells in you.

Prayer.

Dear Father, I give you my spirit, soul and body because I know you will preserve me blameless till the coming of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Your grace is sufficient for me and your strength is made perfect in every weakness in Jesus Name. Amen.
