Be strong in spirit 2.

"A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength."

Proverbs 24:5

Our opening scripture today shows us two important things: Firstly, it shows us that wisdom is a sign of spiritual strength. Secondly, knowledge increases strength. This means that one of the ways you can strengthen your spirit is by knowledge. The knowledge of the Word of God will strengthen your spirit.

Proverbs 24:10 says, "If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small." What happens to you when trouble comes? Do you become discouraged and depressed? If that is what happens to you, you need to strengthen your spirit some more because your strength is small.

Your reaction to challenges in life is a reflection of your spiritual condition. 2 Corinthians 4:16 says, "For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day." The Apostle Paul is saying here that he and those with him do not become discouraged inspite of all the challenges they were experiencing because they were being renewed day by day in their spirit. Colossians 3:10 shows us how that renewal takes place: "And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:" This means that the reason Paul and those with him were not discouraged, inspite of the pressure that came on them, was because they were increasing in knowledge day by day.

Let the foundation of your life be built solidly on the rock of the Word of God. When you are strong that way from within by the knowledge of the Word of God daily, there is no challenge on the outside that will be able to move you. Jesus said in Luke 6:47-48, "Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock."

Prayer.

Dear Father I ask that you fill me with the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding so that I can walk worthy of you, pleasing you in every way, being strengthened with all might unto all patience with long suffering and joyfulness in Jesus Name. Amen.
