The standard for love

Monday, April 25th
The standard for love.

“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:12-13

Love is the essence and nature of God. Therefore, to know God is to love God, and loving God is to love those He died for. That means that if you do not love those whom Jesus died for, it shows you do not know God. In other words, you are not yet acquainted with the character of God.

This is because every born again child of God has the capacity to love because you have the nature of God, and love is the behavioural expression of the divine nature. Therefore, you have the capacity to love others unconditionally even as God has unconditionally loved us.

It is important you understand that God originated love. In other words, love has its origin in God. Therefore, God is the standard for determining what love is. This means that without God, there is no love. Also, without God, you cannot define love, and neither can you know what love truly is.

So, from God's point of view, loving others is treating them the way God will treat them. If you don't, it means you do not love them. And if you do not love them, it means you don't know God. This is because God is the standard for determining what love is.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that you cause my love to abound more and more in knowledge and in all judgment in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Doing the Word
Measure your love for others by God's love for you.
