The person of the Anointing
“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about”.
Luke 4:14 (KJV).
From the opening scripture, we see that one of the reasons for the success in the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus while He walked this earth was the anointing that was mighty upon His life by the Holy Spirit. We also see that it was the anointing that publicized Jesus. So we see that the anointing can publicize you.
In 1906, in Azusa Street, there was a poor preacher by name of William Sumrall. In their meetings, the Holy Spirit fell, and the power of God fell mightily and people came from all over the world, and in about three years, that was one of the most popular spots on the face of the earth.
There is something about the anointing. The anointing is more than an influence. The anointing is tied to a person; the person of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 10:38; the bible says; “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him”.
We see here from Acts 10:38 that the Lord Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit so we can deduce from this that without the Holy Spirit, there can be no anointing. Therefore the Holy Spirit is the person of the anointing.
So if you have not yet received the Holy Spirit, ask Him into your heart today and let that anointing overwhelm your entire being. And if you have received the Holy Spirit stir up that anointing in you today by praying in other tongues as the Spirit gives you utterance.
PRAYER
Father I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit that you have given unto me. I pray that the Holy Spirit influence would increase in me today even as I take out time to pray in other tongues and fellowship with you today. In Jesus Name. Amen.
DOING THE WORD
Stir up the anointing of the Spirit in your life today by praying in the spirit and ask the Holy Spirit to increase in you.
