Self Sacrificing love

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8(KJV)

Our opening scripture expresses the heart of the Father to us and how He commended His love towards us. The word, 'commendeth' in our opening scripture, means to exhibit. In other words, it means that God ‘exibited’ His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God sent Jesus to die for us when we did not deserve it. Jesus died for us when we were still sinners. He came and sacrificed Himself, not because we loved Him, no, but because He loved us. The Bible says in John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

This is the same quality of love God expects us to express to those around us. That pure selfless and self sacrificing love. When you allow such love to govern your heart, it will purify your motives, your intentions and your actions.

As a man or woman of love(agape), what should be your response when your husband, or your wife, your brother, or your sister, or maybe your friend offends you? What should you do to them?

Should you react out of bitterness? If you do, you are not walking in love according to the Bible.

Don't avenge your self when others offend you, but instead retaliate with love. Loving others is not a choice, it's a commandment in the New Testament. Jesus said in John 13:34, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”

INSTRUCTION
Today, I encourage you to pray for the salvation of souls; pray that men and women around the world will come to the knowledge of truth of God's unconditional love towards them and accept the sacrifice of Jesus.
