What Is Prayer?

“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a
certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples
said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also
taught his disciples.”
Luke 11:1.

In this month's devotional, we are going to be
studying on the subject of prayer.

What is prayer? Prayer is the heartfelt verbal
request made upon God based on His promise to
meet that need.

Notice from our definition above that 'prayer has to
be heartfelt' that means if your prayer is not coming
from your heart it will not produce results.

In Romans 10:1 Paul praying from his heart said,
“Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for
Israel is, that they might be saved.” From this verse
we can see that the prayer of Paul for Israel began
with a heart desire.

Teaching on prayer in Mark 11:24 Jesus said, “Therefore I
say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray,
believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
Notice He said, “… What things soever ye desire …”

Therefore if your heart's not in your prayer, you
cannot get results according to the Word of the
Lord. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “And ye shall seek me,
and find me, when ye shall search for me with all
your heart.”

Instruction.
Please read Zechariah 12:10 and ask God for the
Spirit of grace and supplications to rest upon
you.

For further study, read:
Psalm 119:2, Psalm 119:58, Psalm 119:145,
James 5:16 (AMP).
