“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist
the devil, and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7(KJV).
Functioning in a great anointing requires
humility. What is humility? Humility refers to been selfless. It also means
been self sacrificing. It also refers to yielding to authority. It refers to
been teachable. Humility is seeing yourself within the context of God’s mind or
His Word. The bible says in Romans 12:3(GW), “Because of the kindness that God
has shown me, I ask you not to think of yourselves more highly than you should.
Instead, your thoughts should lead you to use good judgment based on what God
has given each of you as believers.”
When
Jesus met John the Baptist in Matthew 3:14, John said to Jesus, “I have need to
be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?” But Jesus answered and said unto
John the Baptist; “Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to
fulfil all righteousness.” Matthew 3:15. Then, Jesus submitted to John’s
baptism. From this context, we see humility as submission to God’s program. In
other words, you can say humility is a selfless and self sacrificing attitude
of submission to constituted authority or God’s program.
Humility is a very important virtue in your
life that every one of us has to develop because a life of humility would
attract God’s grace to your life. The bible says in 1 Peter 5:5, “Likewise, ye
younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject
one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth
grace to the humble.”
Pride
would choke and block God’s grace from functioning in your life. So at such a
time as this, it is important that you examine yourself in other to make sure
that there is no room for pride to block the blessings that God is releasing to
you in this season.
PRAYER
