Sanctify a fast.

“Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:” Joel 2:15(KJV).

A minister of God went on the mountain, on a fast for three days reading the book of Ezekiel. When he came down from that fast, he discovered that every declaration he made, he saw it in manifestation. This same minister, went on another three day fast reading Kenneth Copeland’s book on prosperity and Gloria Copeland’s book: ‘God’s will is prosperity.’ He came out with this declaration, “I cannot be poor.” And today, he is one of the wealthiest ministers of the gospel. He contacted that knowledge and grace when he took out time to fast.

When you are on a fast like this, you ought to spend quality time praying. If you feel tired, you could listen to messages or read a book that is in line with your purpose for the fast. When you are through with such a fast in this way, expect to receive a rhema that will change your life, and set you in line with God’s purpose for your life.

If you are having challenges in your life, and you are seeing your finances go down, and it looks as though a lot of evil is happening around you. What are you expected to do? Should you just sit there and wish things will turn out right? No!

See what happened to God’s people in Joel 1:4, “That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.” When such things began to happen see what was recommended in Joel 1:14-15, “Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD …” Why is it important for us to fast in challenging times? A blessing will surely be released in response to our prayers and fasting.

Joel 2:12-14 says, “Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him …”

PRAYER
Father of mercies, I know that you love me and desires to do me good always. I ask that as I fast and pray in these days, may your blessings be released in abundance into every area of my life and ministry. Thank you Father for in these days, I will receive rhema that will cause me to make speedy progress and to go upward and forward only in Jesus Name. Amen.
