Emotional Prosperity 1

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
Galatians 5:22-25.

Emotional prosperity refers to being emotionally whole and emotionally sound.

We see from our opening scripture that one of the fruits of the spirit is joy. What is joy? Joy is the exuberance of the spirit. It is a spiritual emotion.

Joy is not happiness. Happiness is from the word happen-ness. It is based on what is happening. Joy is an emotional condition as a result of a spiritual condition. Jeremiah 15:16 says, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.”

In 1 Peter 1:5-8 the Apostle Peter described how the early church was going through challenging times yet they were rejoicing and filled with joy, “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:” You also can have joy in the midst of challenges, that is an evidence of emotional prosperity.
