Our opening scripture shows us that our social, financial and physical prosperity is dependent on our soul prosperity.
Physical prosperity refers to health. Health is higher than healing. Healing is restoration to health. The word health in our opening scripture is from the Greek word, 'Hugiaino' which means to have sound health; that is to be well in your body. That means God wants us to be in a state of health.
How can I be in a state of health? There are certain things you need to understand to live in a state of health. First Exodus 23:25-26 says, “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” When sickness is taken away from the midst of you, that is a state of health. A healthy man is free from sickness.
In living in a state of health you must understand the place of serving God. Also, your personal hygiene is important. What you eat is also important to the well-being of your body. That is why in Exodus 23:25 God first speaks of blessing your bread and your water before He spoke of taking sickness away from the midst of you. Therefore before you eat, it is always important for you to sanctify your food by simply praying according to 1 Timothy 4:4-5, “Dear Father, I receive this food with thanksgiving and it is sanctified with the Word of God and prayer.”
