It's time to pray

Wednesday, June 8th
It's time to pray.

“Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”        Acts 12:1-5

Notice from our opening scripture that when James was killed and Peter was then arrested, the church knew they had to do something to change the circumstance otherwise Peter would be killed also. So, they decided to pray, and they prayed without ceasing to God for Him. Their prayer activated the ministry of angels and Peter was supernaturally released from prison. Why was James killed but Peter was delivered from death? The answer is found in Acts 12:5, “… prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”

Many times some Christians allow the wrong things to happen to them and those around them and then make statements like, “If it is the will of God, there is nothing that we can do about it.” The question you should ask yourself is this, “Does God take pleasure in death?” “Does this thing that happened portray God's character?” If it doesn't then do not put it on God. If you had prayed it would have been averted. Take your prayer life seriously because there are many things that would be averted when you do. You do not have to wait for something evil to happen before you start praying. Prayer should be your culture.

Prayer.
Dear Father, I ask that you grant unto me an understanding of the times that I may know what to do to always live my life within the confines of your perfect will, in Jesus Name. Amen.

For further study, read:
Luke 21:36, Romans 12:12, 1 Peter 4:7.

Doing the Word.
Do not quit during times of trials, pray more. (Also pray for your Church leaders and other Christians according to 2 Thessalonians 3:2 that they will be delivered from wicked and unreasonable men.)
