Pray for others

Thursday, June 23rd
Pray for others.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”
1 Timothy 2:1

The first uses of the word pray and prayer when it comes to talking to God is in relation to praying for others. So, one of the reasons some prayers are not as effective as it should be is selfishness.

Therefore, do not be self focused, create the time to pray for others in love, as you do, what you believe for will come to pass quickly. Abraham in the Bible believed for a child for many years, but the first time the word pray was used in the Bible in relation to God was when Abraham was required to pray for Abimelech. God told Abimelech to go to Abraham so that he will pray for him. “Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, …” Genesis 20:7. The word pray in the verse above means 'to judge', 'to intercede', 'to supplicate or supplication', 'to intervene', etc.

In Genesis 20:17-18 the Bible says, “So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.” Therefore, when Abraham prayed for Abimelech, his wife and his maidservants so that they will be able to bare children, what he had believed God to get for many years came to pass in his life immediately. “And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.” Genesis 21:1-2. This shows us that when we pray for others what we believe for will come to pass quickly.

Instruction.
If there is anything you have believed for that you are yet to see, take some time to pray for others who desire that same thing in their lives.

For further study, read:
1 Samuel 7:5, 1 Samuel 12:23, Job 42:8-17.

Doing the Word
Be always willing to pray for and rejoice with others who want or have gotten what you believe for.
