Meditate

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
James 1:21-25.

The man in our opening scripture who looks into the Word of God and forgets it is the man who has not taken time to consistently meditate on the Word of God. This is because meditating in the Word of God is the key to changing our thinking.

What does it mean to meditate? To meditate is to think upon, to contemplate, to roll over in the mind.
Therefore the remedy for transforming your thinking is for you to stay in the Word of God through meditation. James 1:25 says, “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” This means that consistency in the Word of God is the key to progress.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8. If you are not meditating in the Word of God, you are actually limiting your own progress.
