The law does not liberate.

“The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.”
1 Corinthians 15:56(KJV)

There are many believers who want to grow spiritually but they are exposed to the law. So wherever the communication and teaching is about the law, and the “thou shall not …” of the law, those people under such teachings will be under the power of sin.

That is why people can make a new year resolution and say, “I will never do this thing again but they still do it.” Why? The law does not liberate a man. It tells you or poses a challenge to you to try to do or act in a certain way by your own power or might. But the gospel of grace is what liberates you because it empowers you with the ability which God provides. It tells you to allow God to work through you. When God starts working through you, you wouldn't need to struggle anymore because you will have the power over sin. The gospel of grace is what sets people free from sin.

Some teachers of the Bible think that the more they tell people not to do this or that, the more they will change. No, they will only become sin conscious, and become dominated by sin. This is because it is what you are conscious of that will dominate you.

2 Corinthians 3:5(KJV) says, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;” The Bible in Basic English puts it this way, “Not as if we were able by ourselves to do anything for which we might take the credit; but our power comes from God;” The Good news Bible puts it this way, “There is nothing in us that allows us to claim that we are capable of doing this work. The capacity we have comes from God;”

Therefore to maintain your growth spiritually and to live a life of victory over sin and be result oriented as a child of God, you must live your life conscious of God's grace to empower you, and fill you with the required capacity and sufficiency to do all that is required of you in the Word of God.
