Love Vs Lust

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in
the world. If any man love the world, the love of the
Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the
lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
1 John 2:15-17.

Lust is the opposite of love. It is an intense
driving desire to satisfy the cravings of the flesh. Lust is easily angered when it does not
get its own way. Lust does not easily forgive. Lust
also lacks self-control. This is why those struggling
with lust become immoral, easily angered and also
find it difficult to forgive.

According to Hebrews 12:15-16, if you allow
bitterness in your heart it will produce sexual
immorality. This is because bitterness and sexual
immorality go together. Bitterness will defile you
according to the scriptures. Therefore if you want to
maintain purity in your life as a Christian, you must
never allow bitterness take root in your heart.
Hence, I encourage you to train yourself to be quick
to forgive and let go of offences.

Love on the other hand is not easily provoked. It is
very patient and longsuffering. Does that describe
your life? So, it becomes obvious that you really
love someone when you are patient and
longsuffering with them. This does not mean you
are weak, it just means you have the strength of
character to accommodate the weaknesses of
others.

Instruction.
If you are struggling with unforgiveness and
bitterness, ask God to heal your heart and reveal
to you how much He loves you, then forgive
those who have wronged you.

Proverbs 10:12, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (AMP),
2 Corinthians 6:4-6.

Doing the Word.
